An assembly includes a mounting flange, support, carrier, reservoir and fuel pump. The mounting flange has a fluid passage extending through the mounting flange. The support is coupled to the mounting flange, and the carrier is coupled to the support with the weight of the carrier acting in compression on the support. The reservoir is carried by at least one of the carrier and the mounting flange with the weight of the reservoir acting on the carrier and/or the mounting flange, and the reservoir defining an interior. The fuel pump is carried by at least one of the carrier and the reservoir, the fuel pump has an inlet received within the reservoir interior and an outlet from which pressurized fuel is discharged from the fuel pump when the fuel pump is operating. The support defines at least part of a passage that is communicated with a fluid source.

Bottom mount fuel pump assembly

In at least some implementations, a valve for a charge forming device, includes a needle having a first end and a second end, and a valve body. The valve body has an axis extending between a first end and a second end, and a cavity open to the second end and in which part of the needle is received with the second end of the needle extending out of the second end of the valve body. The valve body also has a projection extending axially from the first end of the valve body to a free end of the projection, and the valve body has at least one drive surface axially spaced from the free end, the drive surface extends axially and radially.

Tamper resistant adjustment valve for a charge forming device

A kill switch assembly for an internal combustion engine may include a housing, a first terminal carried by the housing and connected to a ground wire, a second terminal carried by the housing and connected to an engine microcontroller communication wire, and a kill switch. The kill switch may be carried by the housing, electrically connected to the first and second terminals, and manually operable by an operator to change the state of the electric switch to provide an engine stop signal to the engine microcontroller. The assembly may also include an electronic circuit carried by the housing, connected to the first and second terminals, and through the wires communicating with the engine microcontroller.

Engine kill switch and control assembly

A carburetor may have a fuel metering assembly with a metering valve and a metering diaphragm sealed to a body of the carburetor to at least partially define a metering chamber with a portion of the metering diaphragm movable relative to the body to actuate a fuel metering valve. The diaphragm may include a continuous layer, a discontinuous layer, and an intermediate layer received at least partially between the continuous and discontinuous layers and at least partially inhibiting direct contact between the continuous and discontinuous layers. The continuous and discontinuous layers may be different polymer materials and the intermediate layer may be a polymer different than that of the discontinuous layer. The intermediate layer may include voids, segments, or a wire form.

Layered diaphragm

An engine kill switch and a throttle lever position sensor switch both remote from the engine and connected by a pair of wires to a microcontroller for controlling a spark initiated combustion of an air-fuel mixture in a cylinder of the engine. The switches may be received in the same housing and mounted in an operator handle housing of a hand held power tool.

Throttle trigger actuated throttle position sensor and engine control module

A carburetor with a fuel adjustment tamperproof valve assembly and specialized tools for adjusting the valve assembly. A needle valve is received in a recess in a carburetor body with a passage open to the exterior of the body and a cylindrical surface of the passage. A valve head with a cylindrical exterior surface is received in the passage with a slight clearance between them. The specialized tools are engageable with the head to adjust the valve by rotating it.

Carburetor air-fuel mixture adjustment assembly and tools

The table saw mill trolley rolls on rails. A log holder is pivotally attached to the trolley for pivotal movement about first and second axes. A support is fixed to the holder. A log tensioner and log indexer are attached to the support. Centering pins on the tensioner and indexer engage log ends. The trolley supports a log with an indexing shaft axis transverse to the blade axis. A first slot is cut in the log. The log is pivoted about the first axis and the trolley is returned to the start. The log is rotated about the second axis and then pivoted about the first axis to support by the trolley. A second slot that intersects the first slot is cut forming a first log flat surface.

In at least some implementations, a carburetor has a metering system that controls fuel flow from a fuel source to an air-fuel passage. The metering system includes a metering diaphragm sealed to a body of the carburetor to at least partly define a metering chamber between the metering diaphragm and the body, and the metering diaphragm has a continuous layer and a discontinuous layer. The continuous layer is responsive to fluid pressure within the metering chamber and moves against the discontinuous layer to open a metering valve to allow fuel flow from the fuel source and into the metering chamber when said fluid pressure is below a reference pressure.

In one form, a carburetor may include an air passage, a fuel and air mixing passage, a throttle valve, an air valve and a lost motion coupler interconnecting the air valve and the throttle valve. The throttle valve may be disposed in communication with the fuel and air mixing passage and moveable between an idle position and an open position permitting an at least somewhat less restricted fluid flow therethrough than when the throttle valve is in the idle position. The air valve may be disposed in communication with the air passage, and moveable between closed and fully open positions to control air flow through the air passage. The lost motion coupler may permit a limited movement of the throttle valve away from its idle position without a corresponding movement of the air valve, and may also permit movement of the air valve along with the throttle valve after said limited movement and until the air valve is fully open, and may also permit further movement of the throttle valve to its wide open position after the air valve is fully open.

Air scavenging carburetor

A starting system for a combustion engine including a carburetor with a throttle valve moveable between idle and wide open positions, a throttle control to control movement of the throttle valve during normal operation of the engine, and a linkage between the throttle control and the throttle valve. The starting system includes a recoil pulley, a pull-cord to rotate the recoil pulley, an actuator moveable in response to rotation of the recoil pulley, and a throttle override device. The throttle override device has a first control member moveable from a first position to a second position in response to movement of the actuator, and a second control member moveable in response to movement of the first control member from a first to a second position. The second control member is operably associated with the linkage to prevent the throttle valve from being in its wide open position when the second control member is in its second position.

Engine starting system with throttle override

A method and system for controlling a light-duty combustion engine and, more particularly, a method and system that use an engine speed governor to limit the engine speed to a level that is less than a clutch-in speed of a centrifugal clutch. If it is determined that an operator is attempting to throttle or accelerate the engine, the engine speed governor is disengaged so that normal operation can commence.

Controlling a light-duty combustion engine

A charge forming device may include a body having a fuel and air mixing passage, a throttle valve and choke valve moveable between first and second positions to control at least in part the fluid flow in the fuel and air mixing passage, and throttle and choke control members associated with the throttle and choke valves, respectively. The choke control member may also be associated with an engine starting system so that the choke valve is moved to its second position upon actuation of the starting system. The choke control member is selectively associated with the throttle control member to hold the choke control member in a position spaced from its first position. In this manner, the throttle valve and choke valve may be automatically positioned in a desired position for starting of the engine upon actuation of the engine starting system.

Charge forming device with idle and open throttle choke control

A recoil starter for an internal combustion engine has a housing with a pulley carried at least in part for rotation therein. The pulley is arranged in operable communication with a crankshaft of the engine. A pull cord is wound about the pulley with one end of the cord being arranged to be pulled by a user to rotate the pulley. An actuator is carried for rotation in response to rotation of the pulley. A pump is arranged for actuation in response to rotation of the actuator to provide fresh liquid fuel to a carburetor and remove fuel vapor and stale fuel from the carburetor and deliver it to a fuel tank prior to starting the engine.
