Disclosed is an ambulatory system for monitoring one or more physiological parameters in a body lumen, such as the esophagus. The system includes an implantable probe having a sensor for the physiological parameter and a transmitter for transmitting data to an external receiver. The probe may be used for monitoring any of various physiological parameters, including pH, temperature, and pressure, within the esophagus or other body lumens. Methods and deployment catheters are also disclosed.

Implantable monitoring probe

Disclosed is a delivery device for controllably delivering a prosthetic bulking device below a tissue surface such as below the mucosa to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease. The delivery device may be embodied in a deployment catheter, an endoscope, or an endoscope attachment. The bulking device may additionally be explanted from beneath the mucosa. In one embodiment, the bulking device comprises a hydrogel.

Method and device for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease

Disclosed is an esophageal bulking device for implantation below the mucosa in the vicinity of the lower esophageal sphincter. Preferably, the bulking device comprises an expandable hydrogel implant. Also disclosed are methods of treating gastroesophageal reflux disease, by implanting an expandable bulking device below the mucosa in the vicinity of the lower esophageal sphincter. The bulking device may be subsequently explanted from the vicinity of the lower esophageal sphincter.

Method of treating gastroesophageal reflux disease

A device for heating a wiper blade for preventing ice build-up on windshield wiper blades. The device for heating a wiper blade includes an elongated block having a first end and a second end. The block has a top side, a bottom side, a first lateral side and second lateral side. The bottom side has a channel therein extending toward the top side and extending through the first and second ends. A plurality of heating elements is positioned in the block. An actuator turns the heating elements on or off and is operationally coupled to the heating elements. The actuator is operationally coupled to a power supply. A wiper blade is positionable in the channel. The top side of the block is attached to a wiper blade arm.

Disclosed is an ambulatory system for detecting, recording, and analyzing gastroesophageal reflux or intraesophageal pressure. The system includes an implantable sensor and radiofrequency transmitter, an external receiver and recorder, and an analysis software package. This system provides for monitoring any of various physiological parameters, including pH, temperature, and pressure, within the esophagus or other body lumens.

Remote physiological monitoring system

Disclosed is a lower pressure xenon lamp (12) and the driver circuitry therefor for producing relatively short bursts of intense light from the lamp (12). The lamp (12), including its associated driver circuitry (50) can be used in theatrical, stage, movie and/or video production to simulate, among other things, bursts of lighting. The lamp (12) is installed in a fixture together with a power supply (20) and a control system (50) is provided for controlling when the lamp (12) is turned on and off. Preferably, the control system (50) includes manually operated switches (53, 57, 54) and preferably one or more controllers (50) can be coupled together in a series fashion, should it be desired to control the lamp (12) for a greater number of time cycles then permitted by a single controller (50). Alternative power supplies (20) are disclosed. One power supply (20) permits the intensity of the flashes of light (12) to be controlled.
