A method for transmitting one or more first wireless local area network (WLAN) packets and one or more first Bluetooth (BT) packets. The method includes: prior to transmission of the one or more first wireless local area network (WLAN) packets, predicting a first time at which the transmission of the one or more first wireless local area network (WLAN) packets is going to end, and predicting a second time at which reception of one or more second Bluetooth (BT) packets is going to start; and simultaneously transmitting the one or more first wireless local area network (WLAN) packets and the one or more first Bluetooth (BT) packets in response to the first time being predicted to occur prior to the second time.

Apparatus to facilitate co-existence of bluetooth and wireless local area networks

Methods and systems are described for providing Bluetooth and Wi-Fi coexistence on an electronic device. Aspects of exemplary embodiments include determining Bluetooth link parameters for a Bluetooth connection and Wi-Fi link parameters for a Wi-Fi connection. Also, a Bluetooth path loss for the Bluetooth connection and a Wi-Fi path loss for the Wi-Fi connection can be determined. According to this embodiment, one or more link conditions, based upon one or more of the Bluetooth link parameters, the Wi-Fi link parameters, the Bluetooth path loss, and the Wi-Fi path loss, may be calculated to determine if simultaneous collaboration between the Bluetooth connection and Wi-Fi connection is feasible. In response to simultaneous collaboration being feasible, the Bluetooth link parameters and the Wi-Fi link parameters are customized based on the one or more link conditions to permit simultaneous collaboration between the Bluetooth connection and the Wi-Fi connection.

Systems and methods for providing collaborative coexistence between bluetooth and Wi-Fi

An arbiter circuit receives a plurality of media access request signals from multiple protocol processing devices, and generates a plurality of media access grant indicators using i) the plurality of media access request signals, and ii) coexistence arbitration rules. A selector circuit receives the plurality of media access grant indicators from the arbiter circuit, and when the plurality of media access grant indicators indicate more than one protocol processing device is authorized to access an antenna, determines a compatibility of the more than one protocol processing device simultaneously accessing the antenna. The selector circuit, based on i) the plurality of media access grant indicators, and ii) the determined compatibility of the more than one protocol processing device simultaneously accessing the antenna, controls one or more switches to selectively enable antenna paths in a plurality of antenna paths coupled to the antenna.

Apparatus and method for selecting antenna paths for multiple wireless communication components

A radio frequency front-end includes a first path, second path, and third path each coupled between an antenna and a transceiver. The first path is configured to convey WLAN signals from the transceiver to the antenna for transmission. The second path is configured to convey received Bluetooth signals and received WLAN signals from the antenna to the transceiver. The third path is configured to convey Bluetooth signals from the transceiver to the antenna for transmission when a WLAN link is active and not in a power save state, and is configured to convey received Bluetooth signals from the antenna to the transceiver, and Bluetooth signals from the transceiver to the antenna for transmission, when the WLAN link is either inactive or in the power save state.

Bluetooth and WLAN coexistence architecture having a shared low noise amplifier

Circuits, architectures, systems, methods, algorithms, and software and/or firmware for selecting antenna paths between an antenna and multiple wireless communication protocol components (e.g., components configured to process radio frequency (RF) input and/or RF output signals according to one or more of wireless communication protocols). Exemplary circuits for selecting antenna paths include a plurality of media access grant inputs, a plurality of antenna path selection outputs for enabling one or more of the antenna paths, and a selector circuit configured to produce the antenna path selection outputs based on the media access grant inputs. Embodiments of the present invention advantageously provide for a flexible interface for selecting antenna signal paths between one or more shared antennas and multiple wireless communication protocol components.

Method and apparatus for antenna path selection for multiple wireless communication components

Bluetooth and wireless LAN arbitration is described. In embodiments, a communication device includes a Bluetooth device for Bluetooth communication according to Bluetooth protocol, and includes a wireless LAN device for network communication according to wireless network protocol. An antenna switching circuit connects the Bluetooth device to an antenna for the Bluetooth communication, and connects the wireless LAN device to the antenna for the network communication. An arbitration control system arbitrates when the Bluetooth device is connected to the antenna via the antenna switching circuit and when the wireless LAN device is connected to the antenna via the antenna switching circuit.

A wireless communication device including a first transceiver, a second transceiver, and a coexistence module. The first transceiver transmits a first signal and operates according to a first wireless communication standard. The second transceiver selects a first channel of multiple channels and transmits a second signal on the first channel. The second transceiver operates according to a second wireless communication standard. The first channel is associated with a frequency. The coexistence module, based on the frequency of the first channel, alters a transmission characteristic of the first signal to be transmitted by the first transceiver and alters a transmission characteristic of the second signal to be transmitted by the second transceiver. The transmission characteristic of the first signal and the transmission characteristic of the second signal, as altered by the coexistence module, prevent interference with the first signal and the second signal.

According to one embodiment, an apparatus comprises an antenna; a wireless local-area network (WLAN) transceiver; a Bluetooth transceiver; a switch controller adapted to provide switch control signals; and a switch module adapted to selectively electrically couple the WLAN transceiver and the Bluetooth transceiver to the antenna in accordance with the switch control signals.

Bluetooth / Wi-Fi coexistence

A radio frequency (RF) front-end configured to share transmissions and receptions of Bluetooth signals and WLAN signals. In an exemplary embodiment, the RF front-end comprises a first path coupled between an antenna and a transceiver dedicated to transmissions of the WLAN signals; a second path coupled between the antenna and the transceiver dedicated to simultaneous receptions of the Bluetooth signals and the WLAN signals; and a third path coupled between the antenna and the transceiver. The third path may be dedicated to transmissions only of the Bluetooth signals when a WLAN link is active; and transmissions and receptions of the Bluetooth signals when the WLAN link is active and in a power save state, and when the WLAN link is inactive.
