Electrolyte compositions containing a solvent, a co-solvent, certain cyclic carboxylic acid anhydride additives, certain phosphorus-containing additives, and an electrolyte salt are described. The electrolyte compositions are useful in electrochemical cells, such as lithium ion batteries where they provide significantly improved cycle life with no loss of discharge capacity.

Nonaqueous electrolyte compositions

A lithium-ion battery may include a housing, an anode and a cathode that are disposed in the housing and are in ionically conductive contact with one another, an electrolyte composition that is disposed in the housing and providing an ionically conductive pathway between the anode and the cathode, and a porous separator between the anode and the cathode. The cathode may include a cathode active material which is charged to a potential greater than or equal to 4.35 V versus a Li/Lireference electrode. The electrolyte composition may include a) a non-fluorinated carbonate, b) a fluorinated acyclic carboxylic acid ester, c) one or more lithium glycolatoborate compounds, d) a fluorinated carbonate, and e) an electrolyte salt.

Fluorinated electrolyte compositions

Disclosed herein is a fibrous tissue sealant in the form of an anhydrous fibrous sheet comprising a first component which is a fibrous polymer containing electrophilic or nucleophilic groups and a second component capable of crosslinking the first component when the sheet is exposed to an aqueous medium, thereby forming a crosslinked hydrogel that is adhesive to biological tissue. The fibrous tissue sealant may be useful as a general tissue adhesive for medical and veterinary applications such as wound closure, supplementing or replacing sutures or staples in internal surgical procedures, tissue repair, and to prevent post-surgical adhesions. The fibrous tissue sealant may be particularly suitable for use as a hemostatic sealant to stanch bleeding from surgical or traumatic wounds.

Fibrous tissue sealant and method of using same

A slush molding process in which the moldable thermoplastic composition powder dosed to the mold is prepared by blending ethylene carboxylic acid copolymers or ionomers with ethylene/glycidyl acrylate or methacrylate copolymer and cross-linking promoter at a temperature and for a time that does not cause significant cross-linking prior to dosing to mold, which is held for sufficient time and temperature to cause cross-linking in-situ, and optionally, other additives including release agents.

A heated substrate is dipped into a fluidized bed containing particles of polymer to coat the substrate. The coating can subsequently be leveled (and cured if thermosetting) by heating the coated substrate above the melting point of the polymer. The process can be employed to provide desirable properties such as corrosion resistance and aesthetic qualities to the substrate, and to apply very thin coatings.

This invention concerns a process for imparting corrosion and creep resistance to a coating prepared from a particulate polymer composition and applied from a fluidized bed or by electrostatic spraying over metal substrates. The process of the present invention provides for maintaining the content of acid functionality of an acid-functionalized semicrystalline or acid-functionalized amorphous particulate polymer of the particulate polymer composition within a desired range. The acid functionality on the particulate polymer can be maintained, by crosslinking and/or neutralizing, within a desired range of the acid content which results in imparting corrosion and creep resistance to the coating applied over the metal substrates. Neutralizing the acid functionality of the polymer component results in hardening the coatings resulting therefrom. The process further provides for adding anticorrosive pigments to the composition for further improving corrosion resistance of the resultant coatings.
