A reinforcement system for mastic intumescent fire protection coatings. Free floating carbon mesh embedded in the coating is used to reinforce the coating. Optionally, the carbon mesh may be used in conjunction with mechanically attached reinforcements.

Reinforcement system for mastic intumescent fire protection coatings

A system for attaching fireproofing panels to a poured structure. The panels are made with projecting members. In use, the panels line a form with the projecting members facing inward. When the form is removed, the panels are embedded in the poured structure by virtue of the projecting members. The same bolts are used to secure the panels to the form and to secure the joints between panels after the forms are removed.

A reinforcement system for mastic intumescent fire protection coatings. Free floating hybrid mesh embedded in the coating is used to reinforce the coating. The hybrid mesh is made from a combination of high temperature and low temperature yarns.

A system of fireproofing panels. The panels are light weight and easy to install. Lap joints are formed between the panels and simply secured with screws. No fireproofing material need be applied over the joints or the screws. In one embodiment, the panels are screwed to a corrugated underlayment. In an alternative embodiment, brackets are used to hold several panels in place around structural members. Also, the panels can be fabricated with a metal foil backing which acts as a radiation shield during a fire.

The invention relates to means and method of making a multiple castable structural panel in a single pouring operation. A mold-envelope constructed from a plurality of pieces is provided. The mold-envelope is constructed without any external fastening means. The poured core holds the pieces of the mold-envelope together.

Means for and method of making a cast structural fire proof panel

A fire proof cable tray constructed of assemblable units, each of which comprises a metal frame having a wire mesh covering attached thereto, an intumescent coating encapsulating the wire mesh, a layer of an inorganic, non-combustible fiber mat and a sheet of metal foil. The foil, fiber mat and encapsulated screen are mechanically secured together. The units can be assembled on the job site to form a cable tray for protecting control lines in a refinery or chemical plant.

Intumescent coatings protect structural members from exceedingly high temperatures during fires. Most intumescents, in their virgin condition, can be made to bond tenaciously to the substrate surface it is to protect. When activated by a fire, intumescent materials swell and undergo chemical degradation, and in the process a char is produced. The char insulates the substrate from the heat flux (fire). A reticulated structure is provided to anchor the char to the substrate.
