A hydraulic assembly including a valve having a body (40), an elongated chamber (42) having a wall and a conduit (60) in the body, a valve spool (44) movable within the chamber, a drive (48) for the spool, an elongated sleeve (50) within the chamber and spaced from the wall thereof, the sleeve movably receiving the spool in a substantially fluid tight relation and having at least one port (52) for fluid flow with the flow through the port being controlled by the position of the spool within the sleeve, resilient washers (56) spacing the sleeve from the chamber wall and yieldably supporting the sleeve within the chamber, and yieldable fluid connections (64) extending between the port in the sleeve and the conduit in the body so that deflection in the body need not cause deflection of the sleeve so that binding tendencies between the spool and the sleeve are avoided.

Valve with non-binding spool

A rotating assembly (22) is used, for example, as a crank assembly in an orbiting radial motor (14) to drive ring gears (16,17) or in a multiple output speed increaser or reducer. The use of more than one rotatable section connected to a first member (30), such as more than one throw on a crankshaft, can cause unequal load sharing between the sections. The rotating assembly (22) has a first member (30), a second annular member (32) positioned about the first member (30) and a third annular member (34) positioned about the second annular member (32). A first bearing element (48) positioned between the first and second members (30,32) supports the second member (32) in rotation relative to the first member. A second bearing element (56) positioned between the second and third members (32,34) supports the third member (34) in rotation relative to the second member (32). In the assembly (22), each respective bearing element (48,56) is in continuous contact with and about the entire relative surface peripheries of the respective relative members (30,32) (32,34).

Nested bearing crank mechanism

A lubricating and damping system for mechanisms which undergo large changes in orientation during operation is disclosed. The system includes a scavenge compartment built into the housing of the system and a plurality of scavenge pumps mounted within the housing having separate inlets so located that at least one of the inlets is submerged within the lubricating oil regardless of the orientation of the housing with the oil picked up by the scavenge pumps delivered through deaeration means and into a collection tank. A lubrication pump draws the oil from the collection tank and supplies it for lubrication of the mechanism and for the damping means of the system.

Hydraulic system for rock breaker

A deaeration valve useful in a pressurized fluid system for reducing the transfer of air from a sump to the principal reservoir of the system is disclosed. The valve comprises a body including a bore longitudinally therethrough and a poppet-type spool slidably disposed in the bore. An orifice is axially-disposed in the end of the valve spool which is adapted to fit in the seat end of the bore. Air escapes through the orifice when an inadequate amount of fluid pressure is exerted against the orifice end of the spool to force the spool significantly away from the seat. When the spool is forced significantly away from the seat, fluid flow proceeds through a hole which communicates with the bore adjacent the seat. The spool is biased by a spring or the like against the seat, so that the pressure due to the fluid must build up to a significant value before the spool will be forced away from the seat and the hole will be open to fluid flow. Means are provided for venting air from the primary reservoir of the system into the bore of the valve through a passageway in the spool and therefrom into a secondary sump.
