Each embodiment has a linear bearing member having a ball retainer captured in the member to retain the ball bearings when the opposing bearing member is removed from the assembly. In one embodiment the opposing member has a race resting on the balls. In the other embodiment the first member has upper and lower races and the retainer holds ball bearings against each while the opposing bearing member fits between the upper and lower balls and has upper and lower races cooperating with the balls so the opposing member can be loaded upwardly or downwardly and still run on balls.

The microfiche reader has two lenses carried by a segment mounted on an eccentric pivot which can be adjusted to move the pivot and, therefore, the lenses are in an eliptical orbit which permits the lens in the operative position to be centered on the optical path. When the segment is shifted to move the other lens into position that lens will be centered. Each lens is focused by moving the associated focusing slide in and out to move the parallel cams under the bosses carried by the lens barrel flange to raise and lower the lens to focus the image. The image is centered on the screen by adjusting the first mirror which is mounted on a bracket which pivots on a housing partition and has a wedge between the bracket and the partition. The bracket has teeth which engage serrations on the wedge so when the retaining screw is tightened the wedge is locked in place.

A multi-purpose kitchen appliance having two pairs of output spindles with each pair being driven at different preselected speeds, one pair of said spindles having dough hook receiving bores and the other pair having mixing beater receiving bores, a turntable-supported bowl with said dough hooks and said mixing beaters being selectively disposed in said bowl for mixing material therein, interlock means preventing simultaneous driving engagement of said dough hooks with their spindles and said mixing beaters with their spindles, and means for selectively ejecting said dough hooks and said mixing beaters from said pairs of spindles.

Multi-purpose kitchen appliance

A multi-purpose kitchen appliance for performing the functions of food mixing, blending, and the grinding or chopping of food. A power unit includes a low speed and a high speed power delivery shaft at the upper end thereon which are connectable alternatively to a blender vessel or a transversely extending head including gearing to drive a pair of food mixing elements. The head for driving the mixing elements is provided with means for detachably supporting and driving other attachments such as a food grinder. The power unit rests on a base having a laterally extending portion which has a turntable supporting a bowl into which the food mixing elements extend when the transversely extending head is positioned for food mixing. The transverse head is mountable on the power unit in alternate positions so that by connecting the food grinder to the gear train in the head, the chopped food or meat may be delivered to the bowl position on the turntable. The head is provided with means to pivotally connect it to the power unit or to rigidly latch the head in a fixed position with respect to the power unit.
