An electrical contact is provided for an electrical connector that is mounted on a printed circuit. The electrical contact includes a mating segment having a mating interface configured to engage a mating contact of another connector. The electrical contact also includes a tail segment having a mounting interface configured to be mounted to the printed circuit. An intermediate segment extends between and interconnects the mating and tail segments. The intermediate segment includes a base wall extending a length from the tail segment to the mating segment. The intermediate segment further includes a side wall extending outwardly from the base wall along at least a portion of the length of the base wall. The side wall extends outwardly at a non-parallel angle relative to the base wall for affecting at least one of an impedance, an insertion loss, or a reflection of the electrical contact.

Electrical contact for an electrical connector mounted on a printed circuit

An electrical connector system includes a header connector that includes a header housing and a header contact. The header housing includes a header base and a header shroud extending from the header base. The header base includes a header contact opening. The header contact is held by the header base within the header contact opening. The system also includes a receptacle connector configured to mate with the header connector. The receptacle connector includes a receptacle housing and a receptacle contact that engages the header contact when the header and receptacle connectors are mated together. The receptacle housing includes a receptacle base and a receptacle shroud extending from the receptacle base. The receptacle base includes a receptacle contact opening. The receptacle contact is held by the receptacle base within the receptacle contact opening. The receptacle contact opening has a common size and shape to the header contact opening.

Housing base for an electrical connector

An electrical connector system is adapted for placement into a recessed space defining a raceway formed in a floor of an aircraft having an open region. The electrical connector system includes a first connector and a second connector connectable along a first axis. A frame is provided. The first connector is selectably movable in the frame along the first axis in response to movement of a frame portion, with the second connector being constrained by the frame to resist movement along the first axis. Movement of the frame portion permits selective engagement and disengagement between the first and second connectors, the frame portion being accessible from the open region.

Confined envelope connector system

A hermaphroditic connector is provided having a housing with a rear end configured to receive a cable. A socket is provided on the front end of the housing and extends forwardly therefrom. The socket includes a shroud and a socket tongue formed on the housing and defining a pocket opening onto a front face of the socket. The shroud and socket tongue are configured to mate with another hermaphroditic connector having a similar shape. The socket includes at least one blocking member in the opening in the front face to interfere with foreign objects that may inadvertently come into contact with the enclosed conductive member. The blocking member may include ribs and/or beveled corner inserts provided in the pocket and extending at least partially along the length of the socket. A contact is held within the pocket and is configured to join a power, signal or ground cable. The bottom surface of the socket includes one or more grooves and/or chamfered edges configured to align with ribs and/or beveled corner cutouts on a mating connector. In accordance with at least one embodiment, the socket includes a shroud and a socket tongue that are staggered with the length of the shroud being greater than the length of the socket tongue in order to exclude foreign objects without interfering with mating of connectors.

Finger proof power connector

A system for latching and delatching a first article (14) to and from respectively of a second article (12), having a latch member (18,20) with an elongated shaft (28) and an actuator (34) at a trailing end (36) and a latch (30) projecting laterally from a leading end (32). The leading end (32) extends beyond the end of a passageway (64,66) containing the shaft (28) to cooperate with a ledge (40) of the second article for latching. Manipulation of the actuator (34) at the rearward end (26) of the first article (14) enables latching and delatching of the latch (30) with the ledge (40), thereby enabling remote latching and delatching of said first article with and from said second article.

An electrical connector (10) includes a row of contact blade portions (26) alternating with contact receptacle portions (20) all oriented orthogonally to said row, with the receptacle portions disposed in slots (22) of projections (24) of the housing (12) and adapted to receive corresponding blade portions into the slots of the projections from either side thereof. Each blade portion (26) is disposed in a recess (28) between adjacent projections (24) with the recess being slightly wider than a projection. The connector (10) is hermaphroditic and matable with another like connector (10A) by being moved transversely relative to the other with the blade portions (26) entering slots (22) of the other to be mated with receptacle portions (20) therein.

Two-way transversely matable electrical connector

An electrical connector (1,100) for a DIN rail (2) with rail flanges (6), including a body (3,102), a carrier (16,104) vertically movable with respect to the body (3,102), an actuator (14,110) and a pair of clamp members (5,106,108) having rail-engageable hook portions (26,148). At least one of the clamp members (5,106,108) is movable toward the other by the carrier (16,104) upon actuation for mechanically and electrically clamping onto a respective rail flange (6). A pair of such clamp members (5) may be cammed inwardly and upwardly along slots (30) in side walls (9) of body (3) upon actuation, or the clamp members (106,108) may include flanges (158) pivotably held in body side wall holes (162) for rotating the hook portions (148) inwardly and upwardly against the rail flanges (6). Such connector (1,100) is adapted to be mounted beneath a circuit board (10) prior to being clamped onto the DIN rail (2).

An electrical connector (1) for a battery (2) comprises, electrical battery terminals (5, 6, 7, 8), a first pair of the terminals (5, 8) connecting battery cells (4) electrically in series, a second pair of the terminals (6, 7) comprising data and charging terminals, an insulating package 3 containing the cells 4 and at least a part (14) of a charging control circuit, and accessible portions (18) of the terminals (5, 6, 7, 8) being accessible through an end (19) of the package (3) and also through a side (20) of the package (3), whereby the end (19) and the side (20) of the package (3) are adapted to matingly engage another, mating electrical connector (24).

Connector for a battery

A latching mechanism for releasably locking the electrical contacts of an electrical connector in the connector housing is disclosed. Each contact is surrounded by a collet having inwardly extending protrusions that are in depressions formed in the outer surfaces of the contacts. A retaining member is movable to a locked position where it surrounds each of the collets to prevent expansion thereof thereby locking the contacts in place within the housing. The retaining member is also movable to an unlocked position away from the collets, which allows expansion of a collet so that a damaged contact can be removed by simply pulling it out of the housing. A latching mechanism is provided to move the retaining member to its locked and unlocked positions from outside of the connector without disassembly thereof.

An electrical connector (1) for a battery (2) comprises, an insulating package (3) containing battery cells (4) and extended height, battery terminals (5, 6, 7, 8) accessible through an end (19) of the package (3) and also through a side (20) of the package (3), and the package (3) is adapted for mating upside down with another, mating electrical connector (24).

A stamped and formed electrical contact (34, 100) is disclosed for use in an electrical connector (30). The contact includes a plurality of retention features (66, 68, 110, 116) for securing a band contact element (42, 104) thereto. Each retention feature consists of a protrusion (66, 68, 110, 116) extending from the surface (64, 105) of the contact body (40, 102) and having an abutting wall (74, 78, 120, 122) facing the band contact element. The protrusions are equally spaced about the longitudinal axis (70, 112) of the contact body and are arranged in two groups, one group adjacent the end (62, 114) of the contact body and the other group spaced from the first group so that the band contact element fits between the opposing abutting walls of the two groups of protrusions. The protrusions are formed during the stamping process of the contact body.

A composite electrical connector assembly (20) includes a plurality of individual cable connectors (24, 26, 28) contained within a unitary housing (22) having an interior cavity (76). The connectors have front mating portions ( 30, 32, 34 ) which extend through open regions (70, 72, 74) on the front wall (60) of the housing and are retained by resilient latch members (78, 86, 92, 94) within the housing cavity and which engage the back surfaces (48, 50, 52) of enlarged portions (42, 44, 46) of the connector bodies (36, 38, 40).

Electrical connector (2) is mounted in a cut out (65) in a mounting panel (66) by means of a pair of straps (82) which are secured to the rear face of the panel by means of bolts (84) the connector (2) has opposite coplanar flanges (22). The straps (82) have portions (92) which project away from the panel (66). The flanges (22) of the connector (2) are slideably received between the inner faces (94) of the straps (82) and are also spaced from the ends of the straps so that the connector is capable of both up and down and tilting movement with respect to the panel (66).

Float mount electrical connector

An electrical plug connector (2) for mating With a receptacle connector (4) mounted to float in a back panel (P2) of a drawer containing a power supply distribution module, comprises polarizing alignment members (68,78) arranged on opposite sides of a forward plug part (42) the connector (2). The polarizing alignment members (68,78) are offset from each other longitudinally of the plug part (42) and unsymmetrically with the longitudinal center of the plug part (42). The receptacle connector (4) has a hood (106) formed with opposite alignment member receiving arcs (136,138) which are offset unsymmetrically with respect to the longitudinal center of the hood (106) in such a way as to be capable of receiving the respective polarizing alignment members (68,78) of the plug connector (2). The plug connector (2) can be mounted to further panel (P1) which may be part of a fixed casing, and which has alignment member receiving recesses (95,96) complimentary with the polarizing alignment members (68,78) of the plug connector (2) and with the alignment member receiving arcs (136,138) of the receptacle connector (4). By virtue of its polarizing to the further panel (P1), the plug connector (2) can only be mounted to the casing in its correct orientation for mating with the receptacle connector (4).
