An improved method and apparatus for providing access between the processors and the mass storage devices of a computer system wherein an interprocessor bus interconnects the processors and adapters are connected from the interprocessor bus for communication between the processors and the mass storage devices and the system includes binding utility for communicating with the processors and the adapters to generate pairings between the processors and the adapters. A switch is connected between the adapters and the mass storage devices for connecting each adapter to each mass storage device and a binding mapper operates with the binding utility at each binding of a processor/adapter pair to enumerate the mass storage devices with which a processor/adapter pair is to communicate and determines a mass storage identifier by which the processor identifies the mass storage device. An address mapper references the binding mapper to construct and store an address map having processor set for each mass storage device. Each processor set includes an address map entry for each processor and is indexed by processor number. Each entry contains the mass storage device identifier corresponding to the optimal path of access to the corresponding mass storage device. The address mapper responds to each request for access to a mass storage device by providing the corresponding address map entry and the processor completes the access by directing the request through its paired disk device adapter as determined by the returned address map entry.

Method and apparatus for multiple disk drive access in a multi-processor/multi-disk drive system

A magnetic key lock provided with an alarm system, the key lock including a normally closed first switch and a normally open second switch, both switches being connected to the alarm system so that the alarm system is activated when the first and second switches are both closed. The second switch is associated with a tumbler of the lock so that the second switch is closed upon movement of the tumbler when a key or lock pick is inserted into the key slot of the lock. A magnetic sensor is provided adjacent to key slot so that a proper magnet-bearing key can activate the magnetic sensor before the second switch is closed by the tumbler movement in order to delay activation of the second switch for a selected time period to allow the proper key to open the first switch while opening the lock for inactivating the alarm system. A futher switch is provided to test the working ability of the alarm system. The alarm system can include a wirelessly controlled remote alarm. When thekey lock is mounted in a door, another switch can be provided to activate the alarm system when the door is forced open without using the proper key, where the alarm system can be controlled by a latch knob mounted inside the door.

A mechanism for automatically winding a weight driven clock includes a common traveler member mounted for reciprocating movement between a rest and reversal position, a pulling member associated one with each weight of the clock and adapted to exert a pulling force on its supporting chain, a latch mechanism for each pulling member for selectively coupling same for movement with said traveler member, a weight sensing mechanism for sensing the arrival of each weight of the clock in a clock unwound position thereof for operating the latch mechanism of the pulling member associated with such weight and for initiating movement of the traveler member from its rest position, whereby a pulling force is exerted by the pulling member on the chain of its associated weight when placed in the unwound position thereof for lifting such weight into a clock wound position thereof coincident to the arrival of the traveler member in its reversal position, and a device for sensing the arrival of the traveler member in its reversal position for initiating return thereof and the pulling member to rest position.

Mechanism for automatic winding of a clock

A wind velocity indicator is disclosed in which the force of air impinging on a lower surface of a moveable rotating disk causes the disk to ascend a shaft to a position proportional to the wind speed. A system for incrementally adding weights to the top of the disk is provided in order that the altitude of the disk along the shaft represent an indication of wind speed. The system is further provided with visual means for permitting the indicated wind speed to be remotely determined.

A door lock carries an alarm and battery. The lock includes a tumbler system for cooperating with a serrated key. At the rear end of the key slot are located a pair of switches. One switch is normally open and is closed by the insertion of the key. The other switch is normally closed and includes a mass of iron on the switch wiper to be attracted by a magnet embedded in the key for opening the switch. The alarm, battery and switches are connected in a series circuit to cause the alarm to sound when a nonmagnet-bearing key is inserted in the key slot.
