A method of modifying a surface of a hydrocarbon-bearing formation is disclosed. The method includes contacting the surface of the hydrocarbon-bearing formation with a fluorinated amine, and the surface of the hydrocarbon-bearing formation includes a carbonate. The method can typically include introducing a treatment composition comprising solvent and at least one of the fluorinated amine or a salt thereof into the carbonate hydrocarbon-bearing formation. Hydrocarbon-bearing formations treated according to the method are also disclosed. Certain fluorinated amines useful for treating carbonate hydrocarbon-bearing formations and methods of making them are also disclosed.

Method for treating hydrocarbon-bearing formations with fluorinated amine

A method for immobilizing an amino-containing material to a substrate is described. The method involves providing a tethering compound with two reactive groups: a substrate reactive group and a fluoroalkoxycarbonyl group. The method further involves preparing a substrate-attached tethering group by reacting the substrate reactive group of the tethering compound with a complementary functional group on the surface of a substrate. The substrate-attached tethering group has a fluoroalkoxycarbonyl group that can be reacted with an amino-containing material to form an immobilization group that connects the amino-containing material to the substrate.

Surface-bound fluorinated esters for amine capture

Copolymers containing at least one perfluoropolyether segment and multiple aminooxalylamino groups are described. Methods of making the copolymers are also described. The copolymers can be prepared by reacting an oxalylamino-containing compound and an amine compound having at least two primary amino groups, at least two secondary amino groups, or at least one primary amino group plus at least one secondary amino group.

Cationic fluorinated polymer compositions and methods for treating hydrocarbon-bearing formations using the same

A fluorinated bis(acyl-containing compound and a fluorinated polyester formed from the fluorinated diacyl are described. More particularly, the fluorinated diacyl has an aromatic ring bonded to two acyl groups plus at least one third group that contains a perfluoroalkylsulfonamido group. The fluorinated polyesters formed from the fluorinated diacyl-containing compound can be used to provide a low energy surface with a relatively low refractive index compared to many other polyesters.

Fluorinated aromatic bis(acyl)-containing compounds and polyesters prepared therefrom

A curable composition comprises (a) at least one polyorganosiloxane, fluorinated polyorganosiloxane, or combination thereof comprising reactive silane functionality comprising at least two hydroxysilyl moieties; (b) at least one polyorganosiloxane, fluorinated polyorganosiloxane, or combination thereof comprising reactive silane functionality comprising at least two hydrosilyl moieties; and (c) at least one photoactivatable composition comprising at least one organoborate salt selected from tetraarylborate, triarylorganoborate, diaryldiorganoborate, and aryltriorganoborate salts (and combinations thereof) of at least one base selected from amidines, guanidines, phosphazenes, proazaphosphatranes, and combinations thereof; wherein at least one of the components (a) and (b) has an average reactive silane functionality of at least three.

Curable-on-demand polysiloxane coating composition

A curable composition comprises (a) at least one polyorganosiloxane, fluorinated polyorganosiloxane, or combination thereof comprising reactive silane functionality comprising at least two hydroxysilyl moieties; (b) at least one polyorganosiloxane, fluorinated polyorganosiloxane, or combination thereof comprising reactive silane functionality comprising at least two hydrosilyl moieties; and (c) a catalyst composition comprising at least one carbene; wherein at least one of the components (a) and (b) has an average reactive silane functionality of at least three.

Fluorinated arylene-containing compounds and fluorinated polymers formed from fluorinated arylene-containing compounds, and methods are described. Fluorinated polymers formed from fluorinated arylene-containing compound can be used to provide a low energy surface.

A curable composition comprises (a) at least one inorganic or organic compound comprising reactive silane functionality comprising at least one hydrosilyl moiety; (b) at least one inorganic or organic compound comprising reactive silane functionality comprising at least one hydroxysilyl moiety, the hydroxysilyl moiety optionally being generated in situ by hydrolysis of at least one hydrosilyl moiety; and (c) at least one photoactivatable composition that, upon exposure to radiation, generates at least one base selected from amidines, guanidines, phosphazenes, proazaphosphatranes, and combinations thereof; with the proviso that, when component (a) is an organic polymer, then component (b) is different from component (a) and is not generated in situ by hydrolysis of component (a).

Curable-on-demand composition comprising dual reactive silane functionality

A curable composition comprises (a) at least one polydiorganosiloxane, fluorinated polydiorganosiloxane, or combination thereof comprising reactive silane functionality comprising at least two hydroxysilyl moieties; (b) at least one polydiorganosiloxane, fluorinated polydiorganosiloxane, or combination thereof comprising reactive silane functionality comprising at least two hydrosilyl moieties; and (c) at least one photoactivatable composition that, upon exposure to radiation, generates at least one base selected from amidines, guanidines, phosphazenes, proazaphosphatranes, and combinations thereof; wherein at least one of the components (a) and (b) has an average reactive silane functionality of at least three.
