Processes are provided for preparing a substantially free-flowing alkali metal gasification catalyst-loaded coal particulate suitable for use as a feedstock for the production of gaseous products, and in particular methane, via the catalytic gasification of the catalyst-loaded coal particulate in the presence of steam.

Processes for preparing a catalyzed coal particulate

Particulate compositions are described comprising an intimate mixture of a coal and a gasification catalyst in the presence of steam to yield a plurality of gases including methane and at least one or more of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, ammonia and other higher hydrocarbons are formed. Processes are also provided for the preparation of the particulate compositions and converting the particulate composition into a plurality of gaseous products.

Coal compositions for catalytic gasification

Particulate compositions are described comprising an intimate mixture of a coal and a gasification catalyst. The particulate compositions are gasified in the presence of steam to yield a plurality of gases including methane and at least one or more of hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, ammonia and other higher hydrocarbons. Processes are also provided for the preparation of the particulate compositions and converting the particulate composition into a plurality of gaseous products.

The present invention relates to catalyst-loaded coal compositions having a moisture content of less than about 6 wt %, a process for the preparation of catalyst-loaded coal compositions, and an integrated process for the gasification of the catalyst-loaded coal compositions. The catalyst-loaded coal compositions can be prepared by a diffusive catalyst loading process that provides for a highly dispersed catalyst that is predominantly associated with the coal matrix, such as by ion-exchange.

Catalyst-loaded coal compositions, methods of making and use

Process for preparing a supported metal catalyst composition comprising impregnating support particles having a mean diameter of greater than 300 microns with a solution of least one catalytically active metal, or precursor thereof, such that the metal, or its precursor, is in a mobile state in the support particles; and drying the impregnated support particles. The mobile metal, or its precursor, in the support particles is then treated with a liquid comprising at least one reducing agent to deposit and immobilize the metal, or its precursor, in the support particles such that the metal, or its precursor, is distributed in the support particle in a layer below the surface of the support particle, the layer being between an inner and an outer region, each of the inner and outer regions having a lower concentration of the metal or precursor than the layer.

Process for making a catalyst

Microspheroidal particles, suitable as fluidized bed catalyst supports, are prepared by incorporating a portion of small, preferably recycled, particles into a slurry of inorganic oxide sol and inorganic particles which is spray dried to form microspheroidal particles.

Composition and process for making same in which the composition includes support particles having at least one catalytically active metal or precursor thereof distributed therein in a layer below the surface of the particle. The layer is located between an inner and an outer region of the support particle, and each of the inner and outer regions has a lower concentration of the metal or precursor thereof than the layer.

Catalyst composition

A catalytically active material useful to prepare vinyl acetate monomer from ethylene, acetic acid, and an oxygen-containing gas under fluid bed conditions comprises a porous microspheroidal support containing catalytically active palladium crystallites finely dispersed within the support. This catalyst material does not require incorporation of gold to maintain activity and selectivity. A process to produce a vinyl acetate fluid bed catalyst in which catalytically active small palladium crystallites are finely dispersed within the support comprises dispersing selected metal species within the support which have an affinity to palladium to form very fine crystallites of palladium. The affinity metal species may be dispersed by impregnation onto a preformed microspheroidal support or may be intimately incorporated within the support before impregnation with a soluble palladium species.

A process for the preparation of a fluid bed vinyl acetate (VAM) catalyst comprising impregnating a support comprising a mixture of substantially inert microspheroidal particles with a solution comprising a metal salt of Pd and M, wherein M comprises Ba, Cd, Au, La, Nb, Ce, Zn, Pb, Ca, Sr, Sb or mixtures thereof, reducing the metal salts to form a deposit of Pd and M on the support surface and impregnating the support with at least one alkali metal salt. At least 50% of the particles used for the microspheroidal support have a particle size below 105 microns.

Process for the preparation of fluid bed vinyl acetate catalyst

In a process for production of vinyl acetate in which ethylene, liquid acetic acid and an oxygen-containing gas are fed to a fluid bed reactor containing a catalyst comprising a Group VIII metal, a promoter and a co-promoter, stickiness of the catalyst is reduced by limiting the amount of co-promoter to up to 6% by weight of the catalyst.

Process for the production of vinyl acetate

A dental debridement tool is provided for use with a rotary dental handpiece to remove a surface contaminant from a surface of a tooth. The tool includes a shaft extending along an axis and having a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end is sized and shaped for connection to the rotary dental handpiece. The tool also includes an operative tip being carried at the distal end of the shaft. The operative tip has a length parallel to the axis. The length is at most 8.0 millimeters and the operative tip is no wider than 4.0 millimeters at any point along the length. The operative tip is operably compressible during removal of the surface contaminant and includes an abrasive composition of matter. The abrasive composition may include polystyrene, polyethylene, polyester, acrylic, or silicone. An abrasive powder may be included in the abrasive composition. The abrasive powder may include pumice, mica, diamond, talc, aluminum oxide, tin oxide, silicone oxide, or a ceramic material. The operative tip may have a substantially cylindrical shape, may be sufficiently compressible to conform substantially to the shape of the tooth, and may be sufficiently porous to carry a disinfecting agent. The tooth surface may be an outward-facing surface of the tooth or an inward-facing surface of the tooth.
