A coupling agent composition is provided and includes a plurality of non-toxic components in an amount equal to or greater than 97 weight percent (wt %). The coupling agent composition includes a carrier of water, at least one water soluble polyol selected from the group consisting of propanediol, pentylene glycol, and butylene glycol in an amount of from about 1.0 to about 20.0 wt %, a thickening agent in an amount of about 0.05 to about 5.00 wt %, and a balance of incidental impurities.

A coupling agent composition is provided and includes a plurality of non-toxic components and a thickening agent. The plurality of non-toxic components is derived from one or more natural resource materials and is an amount equal to or greater than 97 weight percent (wt %) of the composition. Disclosed herein are oil-in-water dispersions and sunscreen compositions that contain them, which exhibit high in vivo sun protection factor (SPF) efficiency due to the ability of the dispersions to both absorb and scatter ultraviolet (UV) light. These high efficiency sunscreen compositions include discrete oil particles that are enclosed within a solid coating and dispersed in an aqueous phase, wherein each oil particle contains an organic ultraviolet A (UVA) and/or an organic ultraviolet B (UVB) absorbing compound, and optionally a photo stabilizer.

Comparative effectiveness of various oral care products such as dentifrices on preventing dental erosion may be demonstrated using simulated enamel. A substrate is prepared. A mineral layer to simulate dental enamel is nucleated by solution growth on the substrate surface. Alternatively, the mineral layer may be nucleated on a template comprising a self-assembled monolayer formed on a gold layer deposited on the substrate surface. The mineral layer may comprise a homogeneous layer of hydroxyapatite or a thin veneer of hydroxyapatite on a layer of amorphous calcium phosphate. The simulated enamel is then optionally treated with an oral care product and subjected to an acid challenge. The amount of mineral layer remaining after the acid challenge illustrates the effectiveness or non-effectiveness of the oral care product at preventing dental erosion.

Apparatus and methods for visual demonstration of dental erosion on simulated dental materials

The present invention is directed to an oral composition containing a gel network phase comprising: (i) one or more fatty amphiphiles, (ii) one or more surfactants, and (iii) one or more solvents; and an oral carrier phase. In certain embodiments, the gel network is used to structure the oral composition. The present invention is also directed to a method of forming an oral composition containing a gel network.

Methods of treating hair or skin comprise applying the personal care compositions as described above to the hair or skin and rinsing the hair or skin.

Personal care composition containing a non-guar galactomannan polymer derivative and an anionic surfactant system

Disclosed are oral care compositions comprising selected surface-active organophosphate compounds and methods of use to provide protection of teeth from erosion caused by the action of chemicals, such as harsh abrasives and acids. The surface-active organophosphate compounds are substantive to teeth, the phosphate groups binding the calcium in teeth and thus preventing loss of calcium from dissolution when contacted with acids. The organophosphate compound may also deposit a protective surface coating that prevents contact of teeth with erosive challenges. Selected organophosphate compounds contain one or more phosphate groups and are combined in the oral care composition with one or more of a fluoride ion agent, an antimicrobial agent preferably selected from quaternary ammonium compounds and polyvalent metal salts, an anticalculus agent and additional surfactant, to provide benefits including superior anti-erosion, anticaries, antiplaque and anti-staining as demonstrated by enhanced fluoride uptake, remineralization, resistance to acid demineralization and antimicrobial activities, resulting in improved overall tooth health, structural integrity and appearance.
