Methods for automatically controlling a vibratory separator, e.g., but not limited to a shale shaker for processing drilling fluid, the methods in certain aspects including: introducing material to a vibratory separator; sensing with sensor apparatus a state parameter indicative of operation of the vibratory separator; providing a signal indicative of a value of said state parameter to control apparatus; and, with the control apparatus, automatically controlling the vibratory separator based on the level of the state parameter. Automatic vibratory separator

Methods for automatically controlling a vibratory separator, e.g., but not limited to a shale shaker for processing drilling fluid, the methods in certain aspects including: introducing material to a vibratory separator; sensing with sensor apparatus a state parameter indicative of operation of the vibratory separator; providing a signal indicative of a value of said state parameter to control apparatus; and, with the control apparatus, automatically controlling the vibratory separator based on the level of the state parameter. The present disclosure is generally directed to centrifuge systems and methods for controlling centrifuge systems, wherein the systems in certain aspects are adapted for processing material, e.g., but not limited to drilling fluids with solids therein. One illustrative method includes providing a centrifuge system that is made up of, among other things, a bowl, a bowl motor system, a bowl variable frequency drive, a conveyor, a conveyor motor, a conveyor variable frequency drive, a pump, a pump motor, and a pump variable frequency drive. Additionally, the centrifuge system includes a control system that is adapted to control the bowl variable frequency drive, the conveyor variable frequency drive, and the pump variable frequency drive. The method includes controlling the centrifuge system in the G-force differential control mode by controlling the G-force on the bowl as the bowl is rotated by the bowl motor system so that the G-force on the bowl does not exceed a pre-set maximum G-force.

Controlled centrifuge systems

A vibratory separator (in one aspect, a shale shaker) and methods for using it, the separator in certain aspects having a base, a basket movably mounted on the base, screen apparatus on the basket, material flowing onto the screen apparatus for treatment, at least a portion of the screen apparatus not inclined downhill (e.g. said portion horizontal or uphill), electromagnetic vibratory apparatus connected to the basket for vibrating the basket and the screen apparatus, driving apparatus for driving the electromagnetic vibratory apparatus, and control apparatus (on-site and/or remote) for controlling the driving apparatus and the electromagnetic vibratory apparatus; the material, in one aspect, being drilling fluid material with solids therein.

Automatic separator or shaker with electromagnetic vibrator apparatus

A document stand including a base and a post attached to the base. The document stand includes two document supports. Each of the document supports includes a top end, bottom end and two sides. Each of the document supports includes an upper surface and a lower surface, wherein the upper surface and the lower surface of each of the document supports are defined by the top end, bottom end and sides of the document supports. There is a rotational body rotatably mounted in the post. The rotational body includes two sides which can be accessed on either side of the post The two document supports are mounted to the rotational body with one of the two document supports on each side of the rotational body and therefore either side of the post. The two document supports can be rotated in relation to the post by rotation of the rotational body.

Document stand

An apparatus includes an optical sensor, a lens system, and an optical stop system. The optical sensor includes photocells each of which has a respective photocell active area in a capture plane. The lens system includes lenses each of which is operable to focus light from a respective subfield of a scene into a corresponding focused beam. The optical stop system includes aperture systems each of which confines a corresponding one of the focused beams to a respective illumination area in the capture plane. In a method, light from respective subfields of a scene is focused into corresponding focused beams. Corresponding ones of the focused beams are confined to respective non-overlapping illumination areas in the capture plane. Optical data is generated from light of the focused beams illuminating the illumination areas. Motion measures indicative of movement in relation to the scene are produced from the optical data.

Lens array imaging with cross-talk inhibiting optical stop structure

A signal digitizer for digitizing a continuous time varying input signal has a positive peak detector coupled to the input signal for storing the most positive peak value of the input signal and a negative peak detector coupled to the input signal for storing the most negative peak value of the input signal. Divider means are coupled to the outputs of the positive and negative peak detectors for producing a threshold voltage representative of a voltage between the outputs of the positive and negative peak detectors. A comparator has its inputs coupled to the threshold voltage and the input signal for producing a binary output signal in response to the relative values of its inputs. Limiter means are coupled to the outputs of the peak detectors for maintaining a maximum voltage potential between the peak detectors. Separator means are coupled to the outputs of the peak detectors for maintaining a minimum potential between the peak detectors regardless of the amplitude of the input signal.

Signal digitizer for bar code readers

A lamp has a reflective cup with a light emitting device in the bottom of the cup. A transparent material having an index of refraction n fills the cup and extends to a hemispherical surface with radius R and an equator parallel to the opening of the cup. The reflective walls of the cup project substantially all of the light within a cutoff cone having an included half angle equal to the Brewster's angle of the transparent material. The center of the hemispherical lens surface is spaced from the rim of the opening of the cup a distance R/n. Thus, the opening of the cup is the locus of aplanatic points of the equator if the hemisphere. Most rays from within the cup are incident on the hemispherical lens surface at no more than the complement of the Brewster's angle. Thus, minimal light losses occur at the interface between the transparent medium and air. An aplanatic image is formed outside the hemispherical lens of a virtual source comprising a hemispherical surface extending through the rim of the cup opening. Such optics may also be used for a light accepting device. These principles may also be applicable to a an elongated cavity with a semicylindrical lens of radius R and edges spaced from the edge of the cavity a distance R/n.

High efficiency lamp or light accepter

The principles of non-imaging optics, rather than imaging optics, are used to provide a high power LED illumination lamp that has a specified limited viewing angle. A compound parabolic flux extractor extracts and concentrates light emitted by an LED chip and a light pipe continues the concentration into the specified viewing angle. A lens or a diffusant may be used to modify the light output of the lamp. A light constructed as an array of the lamps is suitable for use as an automobile external light such as a center high mounted stop light.

Nonimaging light source

The principles of nonimaging optics, rather than imaging optics, are used to provide an asymmetrical flux extraction cup for an LED illumination lamp that has an asymmetrical limited viewing angle or cutoff angle. The cup has a flat section in the bottom normal to the optical axis, for attachment of the LED. In a cross section of one side of the cup, there is a circular section extending from the flat section to a lower point located at an intersection with a line from the opposite cup lip through a nearest edge point of a top surface of an envelope in which the LED is positioned. Next is a lower parabolic section extending from the lower point to an upper point located at an intersection with a projection of the top surface of the positioning envelope. The lower parabolic section has a vertex at the lower point, an axis projecting through the nearest edge point and the lower point, and a focus at the nearest edge point. Then there is an upper parabolic section extending from the upper point to the cup lip. The upper parabolic section has a vertex at the cup lip, an axis extending through the farthest edge point and parallel to the axis of the lower parabolic section, and a focus located at the farthest edge point of the top surface of the positioning envelope.

Liquid differential pressure measurement apparatus using at each of two separate vertical locations a manifold with a pair of voids, each pair being covered with a thin, non-elastomer membrane pressing tightly against a horizontal fence line therebetween. A first void of each pair is gas pressurized from the external side of the manifold to move the membrane on the internal side of the manifold outwardly against the pressure head of liquid on the membrane at the location of the fence line, the gas escaping via the second void, which is vented. A meter connection to the first void of each pair is supplied to a differential pressure meter and/or a device that converts a differential pressure to an electrical signal for remote readout or the like.

Liquid differential pressure measurement using a vertical manifold

Disclosed is an apparatus for continually monitoring for the presence of suspended or dissolved gas within a viscous material, such as in the material accumulated in the mud reservoir of a mud system used in an oil or gas drilling operation. Pressurized air is injected into the liquid to agitate and dislodge the gas. The dislodged gas is captured within a sealed chamber upon emerging from the liquid. A sample of the gas is continuously vented from the chamber through an outlet tube under the influence of the pressurized air. A gas sensor is mounted with the outlet tube so as to continually and accurately detect the presence of the gas within the liquid.

Positive air gas detector

Apparatus employing ultrasonic pulse production at a transmit transducer at a known frequency is received at a receive transducer for sampling a liquid slurry of known composition, but unknown ratio, makeup of liquid, gas and fine, suspended particles. The transmission time is converted to digital form and an adjustable velocity-density slope factor is applied from empirical data to result in a readout voltage that directly relates to the density of the liquid slurry.

Ultrasonic densitometer for liquid slurries

An accessory apparatus for motorized still camera lens ring adjustment is disclosed. The apparatus includes a connector for attaching the apparatus to camera body or lens and a wheel which is motor driven and suitable brackets for positioning the wheel against a lens adjustment ring. A switch is provided to selectively actuate the motor to drive the wheel so as to adjust the lens adjustment ring.
