A dispensing apparatus for dispensing a beverage preparation ingredient from a pod. The dispensing apparatus comprises a pod support region configured to support a pod, an actuator configured to engage with a corresponding actuator engagement region of the pod, and a rotation mechanism for rotating the pod. The apparatus is configured to cause the actuation member to cause an opening to be formed in a pod supported by the pod support region. The apparatus is further configured to cause the rotation mechanism to cause the pod to rotate about an axis of rotation during a dispensing operation, so as to cause the beverage preparation ingredient to be released from the pod via said opening.

Motor-driven dispensing gun for and method of dispensing fluid or semi-fluid material

A pod for storing and dispensing a beverage preparation ingredient during a dispensing operation. The pod comprises a body defining a cavity for storing the beverage preparation ingredient, said body comprising a dispensing side and a closed side, and at least one side wall extending from the closed side to the dispensing side; and an actuation member contained within said cavity. The actuation member is configured to cause an opening to be formed between said cavity and a region outside the pod when actuated. The opening is formed around a perimeter of a dispensing surface of the pod at a junction formed between the at least one side wall and the dispensing surface, the dispensing surface being provided at the dispensing side of the body.

Pod and dispensing method

The present invention relates to dispensing of a substance from a container by means of a dispensing apparatus. Specifically, the exemplary embodiment of the present invention relates to (1) a container and (2) the automated method for opening such container and (3) the automated method of dispensing of the contents from such container into a customer receptacle or glass.

Capsule based system for preparing and dispensing a beverage

Provided herein are improved solid phase micro-extraction (SPME) devices, systems comprising such devices, and methods of use and manufacture thereof. In particular, SPME devices provided herein are configured to prevent damage (e.g., to the device and/or to a system in which they are employed) incurred, for example, through user error.

Solid phase micro-extraction (SPME) devices

A system and device that supplies an alternative to bottled water and other water based ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages. The invention offers a convenient, reliable, and cost effective Point of Use solution to the consumer's hydration and beverage needs which includes a single-serve beverage system that can produce unlimited chilled filtered water as well as single serve unique beverages through a capsule-based system. The invention can provide cold, hot, still (not sparkling), flavored, enhanced, ultra purified filtered waters and flavors. The capsules contain a powder or a liquid which is mixed into the filtered water to produce the beverage. The drinks can be 'house formulas' or common mass market branded beverages licensed from the manufacturers. The system opens a beverage capsule, sprays mixing fluid into it, rotates it, and then sprays finishing fluid into it which causes the contents to empty into a drinking cup.

Beverage dispenser capsule

An apparatus and method for dispensing of a substance from a capsule . More specifically, (1) a capsule, (2) a beverage dispenser for receiving the capsule, and (3) mechanisms within the beverage dispenser that automatically open the capsule and rotate the capsule while mixing a beverage within the capsule to pour into a user beverage container or glass. The apparatus and method for cracking and peeling open the capsule provides a more hygienic approach to capsule-based beverage systems.

A lock arrangement for a drive shaft of a tightening mechanism in a sports carrier. The lock arrangement includes a lock-wheel coupled to the drive shaft for rotation therewith, the lock-wheel having a peripheral zone with a detent and an abutment area adjacent thereto. The lock arrangement further includes a blocking tab that is movable toward the peripheral zone of the lock-wheel and insertable into the detent. The blocking tab being in abutting engagement with the abutment area in a lock-actuated configuration of the lock arrangement, the blocking tab being received in the detent in a locked configuration of the lock arrangement and the blocking tab being withdrawn from the detent in an unlocked configuration of the lock arrangement.

Lock for torque nose

A mattress includes a plurality of air cells. Each cell has a low air permeability envelope and a foam inflation structure that defines one or more voids inside the low air permeability envelope. The foam inflation structures expand when unloaded to cause inflation of the one or more voids. When unloaded, the ratio of the volume of the foam inflation structure to the volume of the one or more voids within the low air permeability envelope is not the same in all the cells.

Self inflating air mattress

A mattress has cells with low air permeability envelopes. Check valves permit air flow into cell groups. An inflation structure expands within the cells when not loaded to cause the envelope to fill with air through the check valves. Another mattress has a cell with a primary bladder, a hollow inflation structure in the primary bladder, a secondary bladder in the hollow inflation structure. The inflation structure expands when not under load to cause the primary bladder to fill with air through the check valve. An air cell has a bladder, a check valve permitting air flow to the bladder, and an inflation structure that expands in the bladder when not under load to cause the bladder to fill with air through the check valve. The inflation structure is a cylindrical foam structure with a portion removed along a surface and a D-shaped hollow space within an upper portion thereof.

Method and apparatus for providing a load carrier arrangement for transporting a bicycle when secured thereupon. The load carrier arrangement including a frame assembly adapted to be mounted to the carrying vehicle. The frame assembly has at least one elongate arm configured to receive a bicycle cradle thereupon. The bicycle cradle is mounted upon the arm and is operator configurable between a bicycle transporting configuration and a non-transporting configuration. The cradle has a through-passage within which the elongate arm is received and the cradle is operator reciprocal on the elongate arm in the non-transporting configuration thereby facilitating variable longitudinal positioning of the cradle by the operator upon the arm. The cradle has an increased resistance to longitudinal reciprocation on the elongate arm in the bicycle transporting configuration in comparison to the non-transporting configuration. In this manner, the cradle is effectively longitudinally fixed on the elongate arm in the bicycle transporting configuration to an extent that a secured portion of a carried bicycle in the cradle is longitudinally fixed relative to the elongate arm during transport on the load carrier arrangement.
