Improved mechanical dishwasher formulations are provided which are characterized by the use of a random copolyether foam control agent, and wherein the foam control agent imparts the desirable properties of cleaning and defoaming without the concurrent buildup of spots and films on the dishes. The foam control agent is a copolyether having a molecular weight of at least about 2000 and containing random propyleneoxy (and/or butyleneoxy) groups and ethyleneoxy groups. The amount of ethyleneoxy and propyleneoxy or butyleneoxy groups present in the copolyether is selected such that the cloud point of the foam control agent is equal to, or less than, the operating temperature of the mechanical dishwasher.

Novel alkoxysilyl functional silicones capable of imparting satisfactory lubricity and other properties such as softness to a variety of textile fabrics over an extended period of time under normal usage. Alkoxysilyl functional silicones

Silicon based liquid crystal compounds produced by the reaction of an isocyanatosilane with a Schiff base, aromatic ester, azo compound or cholesteryl compound. The liquid crystals are useful in those applications in which liquid crystals are currently used and they also have the capability of being firmly chemically bonded to certain substrates, such as glass, thus avoiding the need for hermetic sealing.

A process for imparting hydrophilicity to fabric which comprises treating the fabric with a composition comprising a copolymer of an N-(oxymethyl)-acrylamide grafted onto a poly(oxyalkylene) backbone and an acid catalyst to facilitate cross-linking of the graft copolymer on the fabric surface and drying said fabric at a temperature sufficient to cure the graft copolymer.
