A firearm magazine having a body constructed by a two-stage process. First, a fabrication stage shapes a sheet material into a substantially tubular magazine body with a joint having one or more retainers formed along the mating ends. Second, a molding stage joins the mating edges using a plastic that fills the joint between the mating edges. One or more retainers along the mating ends are designed to distribute forces applied to the magazine body along the seam and provide support from the sheet material to secure the connection rather than rely on the tensile strength of the filler material to maintain the joinder of the mating edges.

A firearm magazine loader. The loader includes a body having a linear projection extending from the top of the loader for holding rounds of ammunition and an optional plunger for pushing the rounds into a magazine. The loader accommodates and centers a wide variety of magazines due to a self-centering mechanism incorporated into the body. An angled feed channel pivots the rounds into position to slide under the feed lips of a magazine to significantly reduce the insertion force required and allow a double stack magazine to be quickly filled to capacity with minimal effort.

A multiple caliber firearm magazine loader. The loader provides two main features. First, the loader provides the capability to pick up rounds of ammunition in a wide variety of calibers. Second, the loader has a body that accommodates a large number of magazines with a variety of form factors and dimensions designed to work with a diverse collection of firearms. The body has multiple alignment features that align the feed opening of magazines with the rail of the loader in order to receive rounds of ammunition as they are pushed downward along the rail.

A ribless double stack magazine for use with a firearm. The inner walls of an embodiment of the magazine body define a trapezoidal cross section and there are no ribs extending inwardly from any of the inner walls. The magazine body is fabricated from a plastic material that minimizes friction and bulge slightly in response to pressure on cartridges from the spring. The thickness of the sidewalls is sufficient to control the bulge and maintain the exterior dimensions of the magazine within the tolerances necessary to properly function in the magazine well of a firearm.

Aspects of a magazine for use with a repeating firearm are described. One unique aspect is that the magazine is fabricated completely from a translucent polymer that is highly resistant to mechanical, chemical, and thermal failures commonly affecting magazines. Another aspect of the magazine is the inclusion of a coupling system fully integrated into the housing that allows magazines to be securely joined together without the use of tools or additional components. A further aspect of the magazine is the easy release button design allowing the magazine to be disassembled by large or gloved fingers without need for a tool to depress the release button.
