Novel compounds are produced by the fermentation of a nutrient medium with the previously undescribed microorganism Streptomyces avermitilis. They may be isolated by solvent extraction and chromatographic fractionation techniques. The compounds, which are described generically as C-076 have significant parasiticidal activity. The compounds may be included in compositions for the oral or parenteral administration to animals for the prevention and cure of parasitic infections.

Substances isolated after cultivation of a microorganism belonging to the genus Aspergillus in a culture medium comprise compounds which have structures: ##STR1## Together with salts and esters of the carboxylic acid, these compounds form a class of highly active hypocholesteremic and hypolipemic medicaments.

There is disclosed a novel series of compounds isolated from the fermentation broth of a strain of the microorganism Streptomyces sp MA5038. The compounds have a 16-membered macrocyclic lactone structure with various substituents thereon. Substances isolated after cultivation of a microorganism belonging to the genus Aspergillus in a culture medium comprise a compound designated MSD803 which has the lactone structure: ##STR1## as well as its free hydroxy acid form. Together with salts and esters of the free acid form, these compounds form a class of highly active hypocholesteremic and hypolipemic medicaments.

Hypocholesteremic fermentation products and products of preparation

Derivatives of C-076 are described in which the C-076 molecule, a series of macrolides in which one of the substituents is a 4-(.alpha.-L-oleandrosyl)-.alpha.-L-oleandrose has one or both of the carbohydrate moieties removed therefrom. The compounds thus produced have profound anthelmintic, insecticidal, ectoparasiticidal and acaracidal activity and compositions for such use are also disclosed.
