An elongate covered passageway formed of modular pultruded sections adapted for use in the construction of aircraft boarding bridges is disclosed. The passageway includes a four principal structural elements, namely a floor element, two upright, spacedly positioned wall elements and a ceiling element positioned atop the two wall elements. Each of the structural elements is formed of one or more pultruded panels, each panel defining one or more compartments therein. The compartment type construction of the panels provides channels for the installation of wiring, ducting and insulation for servicing the passageway construction.

Passenger boarding bridge

A bridge for the transfer of passengers between an elevated level of a terminal building has a vestibule attached to the terminal building. A first bridge unit extends from the vestibule to a rotunda assembly and is rotatably attached to the rotunda assembly and the vestibule. The rotunda assembly has an elevation system for changing the slope of the first bridge unit relative to the horizontal. A second bridge unit extends from the rotunda assembly and has a bubble attached at its outer end. The second bridge unit has telescoping sections and is movable vertically, telescopically and radially upon operation of a driving system connected at the outer end of the second bridge unit. A telescoping brow extends away from the second bridge unit. The slopes of the first bridge unit and the second bridge unit are controlled to be less than 12 percent with the bubble being movable over a wide range of locations and with a substantial range of vertical motion.

Gangway system

A fire control foam distribution system wherein foam is distributed to the area below a passenger boarding bridge includes a telescoping pipe system to get the foam to delivery manifolds at intermediate and at an outboard location of the passenger boarding bridge. Multiple foam delivery discharge nozzles are attached to the delivery manifolds to assist in directing the foam to the area below the passenger boarding bridge.

Fire control foam distribution system for use in distributing foam

A passenger loading bridge includes a ground level rotunda, a tunnel support vertically pivoted thereto, an elevated tunnel horizontally pivoted to the support, a drive assembly horizontally pivoted to the tunnel outer end and rigidly mounting a detachable aircraft engaging cab. Stairs are located in the tunnel support. The drive assembly swings and elevates the tunnel, while a parallelogram linkage assures that the cab is level at all elevations. The cab is offset 45.degree. to the tunnel axis and has extension and rotation capabilities. The tunnel features a load bearing floor support and walls and a roof of curtain wall construction.

Passenger loading bridge

A closure for the cab of an aircraft passenger loading bridge comprises a bellows-type curtain frame which includes an outer inverted U-shaped frame having it legs pivoted to the platform for lateral movement and having a pair of power actuator assemblies which are articulated to permit lateral movement of the outer end of the frame to conform to any aircraft contour.
