An implantable magnetic neurostimulation probe includes at least one electrical conductor disposed on a substrate and arranged in at least one planar loop. At least one planar magnetic core comprising a magnetic material is disposed on the substrate and within the planar loop. A biocompatible coating is disposed over the substrate, electrically conductive trace, and magnetic core.

Micro coils suitable for magnetic neural stimulation

The following relates generally to defense mechanisms and security systems. Broadly, systems and methods are disclosed that detect an anomaly in an Embedded Mission Specific Device (EMSD). Disclosed approaches include a meta-material antenna configured to receive a radio frequency signal from the EMSD, and a central reader configured to receive a signal from the meta-material antenna. The central reader may be configured to: build a finite state machine model of the EMSD based on the signal received from the meta-material antenna; and detect if an anomaly exists in the EMSD based on the built finite state machine model.

System and method for remotely detecting an anomaly

Examples disclosed herein relate to a radiating structure. The radiating structure has a transmission array structure having a plurality of transmission paths, with each transmission path having a plurality of slots. The radiating structure also has a radiating array structure of a plurality of radiating elements, with each radiating element corresponding to at least one slot from the plurality of slots, and at least one radiating element from the plurality of radiating elements comprising an integrated reactance control device. The radiating array structure is positioned proximate the transmission array structure. A feed coupling structure is coupled to the transmission array structure and adapted for propagation of a transmission signal to the transmission array structure, the transmission signal radiated through at least one of the plurality of slots and at least one of the plurality of radiating elements, the at least one reactance control device providing a phase shift in the radiated transmission signal.

Method and apparatus for an active radiating and feed structure

Examples disclosed herein relate to a radiating structure. The radiating structure has a transmission array structure having a plurality of transmission paths with each transmission path having a plurality of slots and a pair of adjacent transmission paths forming a superelement. Each superelement has a phase control module to control a phase of a transmission signal. The radiating structure also includes a radiating array structure having a plurality of radiating elements configured in a lattice, with each radiating element corresponding to at least one slot from the plurality of slots and the radiating array structure positioned proximate the transmission array structure. A feed coupling structure is coupled to the transmission array structure and adapted for propagation of a transmission signal to the transmission array structure. The transmission signal is radiated through at least one superelement and at least one of the plurality of radiating elements and has a phase controlled by the phase control module in the at least one superelement.

Method and apparatus for a passive radiating and feed structure

A neuromodulator includes one or more coil sets. Each of the coil sets has three coils aligned to produce magnetic and electric fields in three different directions. A plurality of conductors couple the coils of the one or more coil sets to one or more input signals such that each of the coils is independently activated via an individually selectable current applied through the conductors. The individual activation creates a resultant field that is a combination of the magnetic and electric fields in three different directions for each of the coil sets.

Examples disclosed herein relate to methods and apparatuses for a radiating structure to radiate a transmission signal, where the radiating structure incorporates reactance control elements to change a reactance of transmission lines and/or radiating unit cell elements, and a resonant coupler to isolate the transmission signal from a reactance control signal to the reactance control elements. A reactance control signal, such as a bias voltage, controls the reactance of transmission lines of the transmission array structure and/or the radiating unit cell elements so as to change the phase of the transmission signal, thereby steering a beam of the transmission signal. The reactance control elements may be incorporated into a microstrip within the transmission lines.

Method and apparatus for reactance control in a transmission line

Examples disclosed herein relate to a sensor fusion system for use in an autonomous vehicle. The sensor fusion system has a radar detection unit with a metastructure antenna to direct a beamform in a field-of-view ('FoV') of the vehicle, an analysis module to receive information about a detected object and determine control actions for the radar detection unit and the metastructure antenna based on the received information and on environmental information, and an autonomous control unit to control actions of the vehicle based on the received information and the environmental information.

An apparatus including an antenna and a processing device. The antenna includes a steerable array. The steerable array may transmit a signal at an angle of transmission toward a portion of an object. The steerable array may receive a reflection of the signal off of the portion of the object. The processing device may be coupled to the antenna. The processing device may determine a digital representation of the portion of the object in view of the reflection of the signal.

Array system for the characterization of an object

An implantable neural probe includes a flexible substrate having a first surface and an opposing second surface. The probe has an elongated three dimensional shape with an exterior surface and an interior surface such that the exterior surface of the probe includes at least a portion of first surface of the flexible substrate and the interior surface of the probe includes at least a portion of the second surface of the flexible substrate. The probe may include an array of one or more neural stimulators disposed on the flexible substrate and configured to stimulate neurons. The probe may alternatively or additionally include an array of one or more neural sensors configured to sense brain neurons.

Implantable neural probe

An implantable subsystem includes multiple implantable neural probes disposed on a flexible substrate. Each neural probe is configured to magnetically stimulate brain neurons. Each probe includes an array of magnetic neural stimulators that magnetically stimulate neurons. Each probe also includes neural probe activation circuitry comprising thin film switches disposed on the flexible substrate. The thin film switches are electrically coupled to row and column activation lines and selectively activate the magnetic neural stimulators in response to neural stimulation activation signals carried on the activation lines.

Implantable neural modulation device

A neural modulation system includes neural encoder in a patient-external device. The neural encoder converts input signals into a neural stimulation pattern and wirelessly transmits the neural stimulation pattern to a patient-internal device. The patient internal device includes a flexible substrate and a two dimensional array of neural probes disposed on the flexible substrate. Each neural probe includes an array of magnetic neural stimulators and/or an array of neural sensors along with probe addressing circuitry that allow for addressing the magnetic neural stimualtors and/or neural sensors. Control circuitry in the implantable device controls activation of the magnetic neural stimulators and/or neural sensors according to the neural stimulation pattern via the probe addressing circuitry.
