A integrated position determination network including a position determination system and a radio relay system is disclosed which locates the precise location of the position determination system. The position determination system incorporates the radio, the power source and the GPS receiver and all necessary electronics into a single housing. Similarly, all of the components of the radio relay are integrated into a single housing. Many of the components of the position determination system and the radio relay system are interchangeable. Thus, a position determination system and radio relay system which use common components is obtained. The use of common components lowers the cost of manufacture and the cost of maintenance. In addition, interchange ability of components allows for great flexibility in designing a GPS network and in performing real time kinematics operations.

A parallel feed network antenna and a method for making a parallel feed network antenna having improved consistency in antenna pattern and improved reliability and which is easier and cheaper to manufacture is disclosed. In one embodiment of the present invention, a housing containing raised surfaces defining a channel is formed using plastic injection molding techniques. A layer of conductive material such as copper is selectively deposited over the surface of the housing so as to cover the channels. The upper surface of the housing is then removed until the conductive material which overlies the raised surfaces adjoining the channel is removed so as to form a microstrip. The patch antenna are then attached to the housing and electrically coupled to the microstrip to complete the antenna.

Microstrip manufacturing method

The invention provides devices and methods for suture placement while performing less invasive surgical procedures within a body cavity. In an exemplary embodiment, the invention provides for the placement of sutures within the heart or a great vessel that is accessed from outside the closed chest. According to one exemplary method, the patient's heart valve is accessed through an intercostal port in the patient's chest. At least one needle having a suture is then directed into the annulus while visualizing through the port placement of the needle into the annulus. The needle is then passed through the annulus.

A surgical ligation clip is preformed from a continuous piece of metal wire to assume a shape having a reduced cross-sectional area. A clamping arm of the clip is alternately moveable from a clamped to an unclamped position above a vessel support member. A tension coil joins the vessel support member to the clamping arm and provides the hemostatic clamping force from the clip to the targeted blood vessel.
