Inflatable heart valve implants and methods utilizing those valves designed to reduce or eliminate the regurgitant jet associated with an incompetent atrioventricular valve. The heart valve implants, which are deployed via a transcatheter venous approach, comprise an inflatable balloon portion movably connected to an anchored guide shaft and movable from a distal position in the ventricle to a more proximal position between leaflets of a native atrioventricular valve. The range of movement of the inflatable valve body can be adjusted in situ after or before the guide shaft has been anchored to native heart tissue during surgery.

Inflatable transcatheter intracardiac devices and methods for treating incompetent atrioventricular valves

Heart valve implants and methods utilizing those valves designed to reduce or eliminate the regurgitant jet associated with an incompetent atrioventricular valve. The heart valve implants, which are deployed via a transcatheter venous approach, comprise a collapsible framework connected to an anchored guide shaft, a valve portion and an apron which permits ingrowth of native heart tissue into the apron.

Implantable transcatheter intracardiac devices and methods for treating incompetent atrioventricular valves

A system for assessing lung function in a patient is enclosed. The oxygen delivery system in the system (e.g., a ventilator or portable standalone system) preferably includes an oximeter sensor for receiving SpO2 from a patient. The assessing lung function in a patient includes an FiO2 adjust algorithm operable in logic circuitry in the ventilator that can control an oxygen fraction FiO2 provided to the patient in a closed loop fashion. In a preferred example, the algorithm controls FiO2 using the SpO2, but also displays a ratio of SpO2-to FiO2 (S/F) as a function of time. One or more S/F ratio threshold may be used to allow the clinician and/or the algorithm to understand a degree of lung injury, and to allow the algorithm to adjust FiO2 appropriately. Preferably, the algorithm keeps SpO2 to a range of 88-95%.

Smart oxygenation system employing automatic control using SpO2-to-FiO2 ratio

A de-noising algorithm is executed dynamically as data is received to generate and update a set of candidate solutions. Each candidate solution is a representation of the data using one or more line segments, and each line segment is fitted to the data within the time period that the segment spans. During each iteration of the algorithm, one candidate solution is identified as a best solution, and properties of the best solution are utilized to dynamically compute properties of the data. To limit the number of active candidate solutions and the corresponding processing power required to update and evaluate them, candidate solutions that fall too far behind the best candidate solution are eliminated from consideration. The de-noising algorithm finds particular utility in the context of a load cell signal that is representative of a weight of an intravenous fluid container.

A method for providing decision-assist to medical staff resuscitating a burn patient includes receiving patient information, calculating an infusion rate, outputting the infusion rate, obtaining a urinary output, calculating a new infusion rate using infusion rate model based constants, and outputting the new infusion rate. In some embodiments, the method includes notifying medical staff when problems arise, displaying information regarding the resuscitation, and setting limits regarding the infusion rates.
