A method and apparatus are provided for securing an electric vehicle from unwanted movement when the electric vehicle is parked. The electric vehicle includes a drive wheel and an electric motor for driving the drive wheel. The method includes the steps of: (a) placing the electric vehicle in an electronic park brake mode; (b) automatically detecting that the electric vehicle is rolling from an initial position; and (c) automatically causing the electric motor to apply a reverse torque to the drive wheel to return the electric vehicle to the initial position or automatically causing the electric motor to lock the drive wheel to inhibit further movement of the electric vehicle.

Electronic park brake system for electric vehicles

A longitudinal balance test circuit connects to the tip and ring lines of a pair of telephone wires. It also connects to a shield conductor that extends with the tip and ring lines. The test circuit includes a transformer which has two windings. One winding connects to the tip and ring lines, and it also connects to the shield conductor. The other winding connects to a signal generator that provides an alternating current test voltage with which to test longitudinal balance of the tip and ring lines. A method of testing a telephone line for longitudinal balance comprises: measuring an alternating current test signal applied to a telephone line under test; measuring stressed noise of the telephone line in response to the applied. alternating current test signal; calculating, in response to the measured alternating current test signal and the measured stressed noise, an adjusted value related to longitudinal balance regardless of the length of the telephone line under test; and displaying the adjusted value.

Telephone line longitudinal balance tester and method

A system and method for providing wireless access to a telephone line of a telephone network utilize a mobile terminal and a crossconnect base station. The mobile terminal transmits a radio frequency signal carrying a telephone communication. The crossconnect base station connects to a telephone line at a crossconnect box of a telephone network, receives the radio frequency signal carrying a telephone communication, and communicates the telephone communication over a connected telephone line. Other aspects of the system and method of the present invention include: (1) providing a wakeup signal from the mobile terminal to the crossconnect base station so that the base station can be powered down when not in use, thereby conserving energy; (2) receiving both the wakeup signal and the primary communication signal (which can carry data and/or voice) through a single antenna connected to the base station at the respective crossconnect box; and (3) recharging one or more batteries in the base station from an energy source of the telephone network.
