A load connector module for connecting a multi-phase load to a circuit interrupter which includes all the multi-phase connectors, a current transformer for each respective phase, and a voltage transformer coupling, in an integral, solid, insulated unit.

Integral load connector module

A compact switchgear system employing a number of modular components that plug into their mating interface and are maintained in electrical isolation employing solid insulation in a manner that substantially shields the electrical conducting portions of the assembly from contact with lower voltage portions of the system. The assembly is primarily made up of five modules. A multi-phase load connector having integral current monitoring transformers for each of the respective phases; a voltage monitoring transformer which plugs into the load connector; an in-line actuator and vacuum interrupter module, provided for each phase, which plugs into the load connector; a three position vacuum switch connected between the vacuum interrupter module and the line or ground; and an electronic control module which receives inputs from the current and voltage monitors, circuit relays, vacuum interrupter/in-line actuator module, and temperature sensors, and provides programmed, controlling outputs to the in-line actuators of the respective vacuum interrupter modules.

Modular, miniaturized switchgear

A modular three position vacuum isolator switch that is operable to connect a stationary contact to either of two moveable contacts or an intermediate position which is out of electrical engagement with either of the moveable contacts. One of the moveable contacts is grounded and the other is connected a power source. The stationary contact is connected to two electrical connectors. One of the two electrical connectors is connected to a breaker and the second is connected to a corresponding input on a second similar isolator switch model, which itself is connected to a second line source. The stationary contact is connected to the circuit interrupter for connecting the circuit interrupter to either of the two line sources, to ground, or to isolate the circuit interrupter by placing the isolator switch module in the intermediate position.

Isolator switch

Cradle assembly comprises a breaker-engaging frame slidably coupled to an enclosure-engaging frame. The enclosure will have a rear wall provided with forwardly extending stationary terminals. The breaker will have rearwardly facing terminals aligned for engaging the stationary terminals. The rear wall of the enclosure is fixed relative to the side walls of the enclosure. The enclosure-engaging frame of the cradle assembly engages the side walls as the breaker is mounted to the breaker-engaging frame. The cradle assembly facilitates moving the breaker between a connected and disconnected position. In the connected position, the breaker terminals are engaged with the enclosure stationary terminals. In the disconnected position, the breaker terminals are disengaged and spaced from the stationary terminals.

Cradle assembly for circuit interrupters

A drive mechanism for a circuit interrupter comprising a crank and lever pivotally interconnected by a resiliently yielding connecting rod assembly. The connecting rod assembly comprises a coil compression spring and first and second links slidably coupled together to compress the coil compression spring. Rotation of the crank in either direction causes the lever to drive the movable contact of the circuit interrupter into and out of engagement with the stationary contact. The coil compression spring is loaded under compression when the movable contact is driven into engagement with the stationary contact, storing and maintaining a mechanical static load on the movable contact for as long as the movable contact is engaged with the stationary contact.

Drive mechanism for circuit interrupters

An interrupter/isolator assembly having a conducting member connected to one contact of a vacuum switch and movable to engage either an earth contact or an isolator contact incorporates a cam member for operating the conducting member and actuating the switch contacts, there being a degree of lost motion between the cam member and conducting member such that making or breaking of a current path between the second contact and either the isolator or earth contact occurs within the vacuum switch and not at the isolator or earth contact.
