A track assembly having first and second hub assemblies that are operatively connected to a support frame by first and second attachment members, respectively. The first and second attachment members include resilient or movable mounts that are configured so that the track assembly can be attached to vehicles whose axles or wheel flanges are misaligned or have irregular rotational movement such as runout or wobble. The attachment members may be adjustably positioned relative to the support frame to accommodate vehicles having different wheelbase lengths and axle lengths. An endless track encircles the first and second hub assemblies, and the support frame, and is drivingly engaged by one of the hub assemblies. First and second rollers, which define the longitudinal extent of the endless track, are positioned at either end of the support frame. A tensioning member, with at least one upper idler roller, positions the endless track so that it is spaced from one of the hub assemblies in a spaced relation. The track assembly increases traction and stability by providing a vehicle with an independent front suspension, a larger footprint, and a longer wheelbase. In use, each track assembly is bolted onto wheel flanges of a vehicle using existing wheel lugs and nuts.

The present invention provides a cushioned track section adapted to be linked to a plurality of similar cushioned track sections to form a flexible track belt for wrap around mounting on a vehicle tire, each cushioned track section having a rigid ground engaging base pad, a pair of spaced apart side wall structures that include a side plate, and a track bolster comprising a substrate and a cushion attached thereto, the cushion including a ground engaging surface.

The present invention provides a track section adapted to be linked to a plurality of similar track sections to form a flexible track belt for wrap around mounting on a vehicle tire, each track section having a rigid ground engaging base pad, a pair of spaced apart side wall structures that include a side plate and a pair of side plate support segments. The side plate has upper and lower portions with the lower portion disposed at an angle of between sixty-three and sixty-eight degrees relative to the horizontal. The upper portion is bent inwardly relative to the lower portion such that its inner tire engaging surface is at an angle of four to seven degrees relative to the inner surface of the lower portion. The support segments each have a pair of spaced apart apertures disposed a first distance from the ground when the track section is in a ground engaging position. The apertures of each support segment are spaced a second distance apart such that the first distance lies within the range of about forty to about seventy percent of the second distance.

Removable flexible track belt and track section therefore

A flexible track belt for removable, wraparound mounting on vehicle tires is comprised of a plurality of track sections which are linked together for pivotal movement with respect to each other about a single pivot pin connection to each track section. Each track section is comprised of a ground engaging crossbar extending between a pair of laterally spaced sidewalls which project generally upwardly when the crossbar is on the ground. Each of the connecting links for the track sections is rigidly attached to the sidewall of one track section and pivotally attached to the sidewall of an adjacent track section by a pivot pin extending generally parallel to the track crossbars. Tension in the track belt may be adjusted by at least one pair of adjustable coupling assemblies connected between at least one pair of adjacent track sections. Each of the adjustable coupling assemblies includes a pair of coupling members extending longitudinally of the track towards each other from the sidewalls of adjacent track sections and apertured to receive a removable fastener at various locations along their lengths. The removable coupling fastener is positioned through the interlocking links at a loction between the crossbar members of adjacent track sections.
