A process for producing rosin resins comprising reacting together rosin and phenolic compound and/or terpene-phenol resin, in the presence of a Br&#xf8;nsted acid. These resins may be used as tackifiers in adhesive formulations, including chloroprene contact cements.

The articles, as dispensors are improved by the addition of a compatibilizing agent to reduce migration of the organic liquid out of the matrix in the form of liquid drops or films.
