A hydraulic jack assembly for a hydraulic elevator including a jack having a cylinder, cylinder head and plunger, and a footer for mounting the jack which includes a box beam having a bottom, side webs and lateral flanges. The cylinder extends through the bottom of the box beam and is fixed to the bottom and lateral flanges. End plates are fixed inwardly from the ends of the box beam to define an overflow oil reservoir which surrounds the jack below the cylinder head for collecting oil which may leak from the cylinder head.

Hydraulic jack assembly for a hydraulic elevator

An elevator system including an elevator car, a door for closing and opening an entrance into the elevator car, and a door operator on the canopy or car top which is operatively linked to the door. The door operator casing or enclosure is made into a practical enclosure for several shock sensitive functions, including the car controller and the landing and terminal zone switches, by rigidly mounting the door operator enclosure to the canopy, and by resiliently mounting the door operator drive assembly within the enclosure.

Elevator system which utilizes both rigid and resilient mounting

An escalator in which the lateral edge of each step is provided with a resilient, cleated demarcation strip. The outermost cleat of the demarcation strip is flexibly and integrally hinged to the remaining portion of the demarcation strip, and is movable from an unbiased position towards, and away from the adjacent skirt panel, to first and second stops, respectively. The first and second stops assure long life in flexure, and the first stop limits the forces which can be applied to the skirt via the cleat. In another embodiment of the invention, the surfaces of the step-skirt demarcation strips which are exposed to the passengers are provided with a surface configuration which resists sliding movement of an object towards the skirt panel.

Escalator

A method of, and apparatus, for determining the direction of force in a moving escalator having a plurality of drive units coupled to an endless, articulated belt. The direction of force, and the duration of such force in a direction which indicates compression of the belt at each drive unit, is used to align and properly space the drive units for optimal load sharing.

An elevator system including an elevator car, and a hydraulic jack. The elevator car includes a metallic tunnel structure which extends vertically upward therethrough, with the hydraulic jack lifting and lowering the elevator car via contact with an end plate secured to the upper end of the tunnel. Stabilizer means in the tunnel, fixed to a predetermined portion of the hydraulic jack, coacts with the inner sidewalls of the tunnel to provide intermediate support and centering forces which promote coaxial alignment between the hydraulic jack and tunnel.

Elevator system

An elevator car having a car frame and a composite platform. The composite platform has a first section defined by a beam member of the car frame, and a second section which is pivotally fastened to the car frame. The second section is pivotable between a shipping position, wherein the second section is substantially perpendicular to the first section, and an operating position wherein the first and second platform sections cooperatively define the platform assembly of the elevator car.

Modular elevator car

A hydraulic system having a single acting, mult-stage, synchronous hydraulic jack having a trapped oil space which provides the required synchronism. The hydraulic system additionally includes a first external pump in fluid flow communication with an oil space disposed between the outer cylinder and an intermediate section, and a second external pump disposed in fluid flow communication with the trapped oil space between the intermediate section and an inner plunger section. Oil leakage from the trapped oil space is detected when the sections are retracted. The next time the sections are to be extended following such detection, both pumps are automatically started, with the second pump being deactivated when the trapped oil space has been replenished.

Hydraulic system including oil replenishment for multi-stage hydraulic

A hydraulic elevator system which utilizes a single hydraulic jack having a cylinder fixed below an elevator car, and a plunger. The elevator car is supported on the end of the plunger. The hydraulic jack extends upwardly and into the elevator car, reducing the space required below the car by the amount of the penetration of the hydraulic jack. The hydraulic jack is disposed adjacent to the front portion of the hatchway, enabling it to occupy an enclosed, concealed space in the elevator car, between its entranceway and its operational controls.

A shipping assembly for a hydraulic jack in which the cylinder of the jack is shipped in sections. First and second shipping caps are fastened to predetermined ends of the cylinder sections during shipment, with the first shipping cap utilizing certain of the same cylinder joint fastening hardware which will subsequently be used to join the cylinder sections at the job site. The first and second shipping caps are cooperatively configured to enable them to be assembled into a complete, self-contained shipping package for return to the factory, using the fastening hardware used to secure the second shipping cap to a cylinder section.

Shipping assembly for a hydraulic jack

A cylinder joint for joining two vertically oriented cylinder sections, which aligns the cylinders and supports the weight of the upper cylinder section on the upper end of the lower cylinder section. A split ring and locking collar assembly maintain the assembled relation of the cylinder sections, and it provides a mechanically strong, fluid-tight joint.

An elevator system including an elevator car having an entranceway, a door having one or more door panels mounted for movement to open and close the entranceway, a door operator for the door, and mounting hardware for mounting the door operator on top of the elevator car. The mounting hardware provides horizontal and vertical adjustment of the door operator, with all adjustments being easily made from the top of the car. When the elevator car has a two-speed door, the high and low speed hanger tracks are horizontally spaced from one another, and they are mounted outside of the vertical projection of the door operator frame. The door hanger plates for both the high and low speed door panels are disposed between the hanger roller tracks. The spacing between the high and low speed roller tracks enables the hanger plates and door panels to be placed in position, or to be removed, from the top of the car.
