A pressure testing apparatus to bring, and maintain, pressure within a test vessel at a proof pressure. The apparatus includes an air motor and a fluid pump which is removably mountable to the air motor. The air motor drives the fluid pump and the pump piston which reciprocatively moves with the motor piston. A precision pressure adjustment unit is located on an outlet side of the fluid pump and includes a chamber and a piston manually adjustable to expel a fluid from the chamber to increase the pressure in the test vessel.

Modular pump

A modular air-driven pump includes an air motor and various sized fluid pumps which are interchangeably mountable to the air motor. The air motor includes first and second bulkheads, a motor cylinder held between the first and second bulkheads, and a motor piston within the motor cylinder. An air control system supplies air from an air inlet to the motor cylinder alternately on each side of the motor piston while venting the motor cylinder on an opposite side of the motor piston to an air outlet to reciprocate the motor piston. The first bulkhead has an opening substantially coaxial with the motor cylinder and first and second cylindrically-shaped and coaxial recesses at an outward side of the first bulkhead which surround the opening The second recess has larger diameter and a smaller depth than the first recess so that they are stair stepped. Each of the first and second fluid pumps include an end block, a pump cylinder held between the end block and the first bulkhead coaxial with the motor cylinder and within one of the recesses, and a pump piston within said pump cylinder. The pump piston is removably connected to the motor piston through the opening for reciprocable movement of the pump piston with the motor piston. The pump cylinder of the first fluid pump is sized and shaped for cooperating with the first recess of the first bulkhead and the pump cylinder of the second fluid pump is sized and shaped for cooperating with the second recess of the first bulkhead. An air-motor enclosure surrounds the air motor and a fluid-pump enclosure surrounds the fluid pump. The fluid-pump enclosure forms an exhaust plenum in fluid communication with the air outlet and has an exhaust outlet to reduce noise created by exhausting air.

A single lever control unit for sequentially operating a transmission and throttle and, selectively, for operating the throttle independently of the transmission. A throttle shaft assembly disengages from a throttle gear by pulling out the shaft while in the neutral position. A double key on the throttle shaft disengages from a keyway in the throttle gear and a spring-loaded pin engages a cavity in the throttle gear to lock both shift and throttle gears in the neutral position. Throttle only may then be applied. When the hand lever is returned to the neutral position, the throttle shaft automatically engages the throttle gear and the locking pin automatically disengages by means of spring loading. The locking pin prevents pulling out the shaft in other than the neutral position. A spring provides axial loading between the throttle arm connected to the shaft and a friction plate mounted on the shaft. This loading creates a frictional drag which prevents throttle creep. Additional throttle braking is achieved during throttling by means of an adjustable screw forcing a friction pad against a specially profiled side of the throttle gear. An adjustable flange accommodates a neutral interlock lever. The flange can be angularly oriented in any desired position.

A system is provided for controlling a motor and rudder of a power boat selectively from either of two remote stations, each of which includes means for producing linear input signals for motor shift and throttle control and for steering control. The system includes a steering input selector mechanism which is capable of transmitting the linear input signal for steering control from one of the stations to the rudder while isolating the signal from the other station. A motor input selector mechanism is capable of transmitting the linear input signals for motor shift and throttle control from one of the stations to the motor while isolating the signals from the other station. The steering and motor input selector mechanism may be actuated to facilitate the selection of one of the stations whenever corresponding linear input signals from the two stations are substantially equal. The system also includes a mechanism for initiating the actuation of selection of one of the stations prior to the corresponding linear input signals from the two stations being substantially equal.

The present invention relates to a steering control device comprising a shaft for operative attachment to a steering system, said shaft rotatably mounted on a housing, a pinion gear means mounted on said shaft to rotate therewith, said housing including a hub member, with a hole therethrough for rotatable passage of said shaft, an indicator disc rotatably mounted on said hub coaxial with said shaft, an idler gear rotatably mounted on said disc, said pinion gear meshing with and driving said idler gear about a ring gear means outward of and surrounding and meshing with said pinion gear in response to the rotation of said shaft, said idler gear thereby driving said indicator disc.

A steering control head with adjustable positioning means comprising a housing, a shaft supported in said housing, said shaft operatively attached to a steering system, said housing having thereon a radially extending shoulder, said shoulder having, at least on a part of its outer surface, a series of teeth, a collar having an opening therethrough for fitting over and around said housing, said collar having an annular counterbore surrounding said opening to accept said collar therein, the outer axially extending surface having, at least on a part thereof, a series of teeth for meshing with said teeth on said shoulder, said collar being provided with a fastening means to fasten said collar and said housing intermeshed therewith to a bulkhead member.
