A method for the start-up of a numerical control of machine tools or production machinery, wherein the numerical control includes a main computer and a follow-up device, which are connected with each other via a data transmission network, wherein the follow-up device is addressable by the main computer via a logical address and a hardware address, with information regarding a physical address of the follow-up device in the data transmission network, is allocated to the logical address. The method includes sequentially requesting in a set-up mode of operation of the main computer allocating information regarding a logical address and a hardware address from an operator for the follow-up device and other follow-up devices to whose logical address no hardware address had been allocated. The method further including storing the logical address and the hardware address in a memory unit after the allocating information has been performed.

A modular, numerical control having low-jitter synchronization includes a main computer and at least one controller unit which, starting from the main computer, are interconnected by serial data-transmission channels in the form of a series circuit. The at least one controller unit includes a first receiver unit for receiving a serial data stream arriving from the direction of the main computer, and a first transmitter unit for outputting a serial data stream. Also provided in the at least one controller unit is a clock recovery unit which derives a synchronous clock signal from the serial data stream arriving at the first receiver unit, and supplies it to the first transmitter unit which uses it as a transmission clock signal, so that the serial data stream arriving at the first receiver unit and the serial data stream output by the first transmitter unit are coupled to each other in phase-locked manner.

Modular numerical control having low-jitter synchronization

A modular, numerical control includes at least two modules, each including a microprocessor unit and being connected to each other via serial data-transmission channels for the transmission of information in the form of data packets. In at least one module, a data-packet generating unit is provided for generating data packets and for transmitting data packets to at least one further module. In so doing, the data-packet generating unit operates independently of the function of the microprocessor unit. Moreover, in at least one module, a data-packet processing unit is provided by which data packets are able to be processed and/or are able to be transmitted to at least one further module, independently of the function of the microprocessor unit. The data packets include the status of at least one safety signal.

Modular numerical control

A method for error detection in a drive mechanism, having a multiphase electric motor and a converter connected upstream thereof, wherein the converter controls voltages of individual phases of the electric motor, and individual phase currents in the individual phases of the electric motor each extend periodically. The method includes measuring a phase current of the electric motor at a predetermined point of a respective period, simultaneously varying a voltage that is associated with the measured phase current and evaluating a measured value of the measured phase current as a function of the voltage that is associated with the measured phase current.
