The invention concerns a bristle for a brush, in particular a cleaning brush, a toothbrush or an application brush, wherein the bristle has a lower root region with which it can be mounted in or to a bristle support or which forms part of the bristle support, and a free length disposed outside of the bristle support above the root region which is composed of a shaft region bordering the root region and a flexing region disposed thereabove, wherein the shaft region is composed of a lower shaft base section bordering the root region and a shaft section disposed thereabove, and wherein the flexing region is composed of a lower active and flexing section bordering the shaft region and a tip section which is disposed thereabove and forms the free end of the bristle, wherein the bristle has a continuous depression-free jacket in the shaft base section and, at least in sections of the jacket in the flexing region, a profiling which is formed by elevations and/or depressions and which lies in an outer surface of the bristle.

Bristles, method and device for production thereof and brushes

Brush ware comprising at least one carrier and bristles made from a moldable plastic material disposed thereon, is produced by providing the carrier with through holes acting like spinning nozzles, to which bristle-shaped molding channels join and a plastic melt for the bristles is injected from at least one side of the carrier&#x2014;the feed side of the melt&#x2014;through the holes into the channels thereby forming the bristles, wherein the through holes have a minimal width along at least a portion of their length which is &#x2266;3 mm and the ratio between this width and the flow path of the melt resulting from the depth of the through holes plus the length of the channels is &#x2266;1:5. A device for carrying out the method and brush ware produced in accordance with the method is also described.

Method and device for producing bristle products and bristle products

In a method for producing a bristle from thermoplastic polymers through injection molding, the molten polymer mass is injected under pressure into a bristle-molding channel of predetermined length having a predetermined cross-section along this length and the channel is vented during injection molding. To produce injection-molded bristles with excellent bending behavior, the magnitude of the injection pressure is adjusted in dependence on the cross-sectional extension of the bristle-molding channel such that a shear flow is generated with high core speed in the center of the molten polymer mass flow and large shearing effect due to wall friction of the molten polymer mass under distinct longitudinal orientation of the polymer molecules at least in the region of the molten polymer mass close to the wall, which is maintained along the channel wherein the channel is simultaneously vented along its length to support maintenance of the shear flow. A device for carrying out the method is also described.

Method and device of the production of brushes

A method for the production of bristles structures on an arbitrary kind of carrier using a mold tool is described having channels extending from channel walls for shaping bristles, wherein a mold mass for forming the bristles is introduced under pressure into the channels, preferentially using the injection molding technique. Towards this end, the carrier is disposed directly or indirectly onto the mold walls of the channels in such a fashion that the free cross-section of the channels is completely covered and the mold mass is subsequently introduced onto the carrier with a sufficient mold pressure (injection pressure) that the carrier is broken-through in the vicinity of the free cross-section of the channels thereby displacing the carrier material, with the carrier mass subsequently filling the channels.

A brush and in particular a tooth brush comprises a brush body and a bristle carrier supporting a plurality of bristles and being preferably removably retained on the brush body. The bristle carrier, consisting of soft-elastic plastic material, is formed as a cap and can be drawn over a projection of the brush body.

Bristles for applying media are produced in that a filament, which can be cut into bristles, is extruded with a core which also determines the mechanical properties of the bristle. A method for the manufacture of brushes with a plastic bristle carrier and a bristle configuration of individual or bundlewise-combined plastic bristles is proposed, in that the fastening-side ends of the bristles or bundles are melted to a thickening, thickenings of adjacent bristles or bundles are interconnected by after shaping and displacement of the plastics material and the connections are subsequently embedded in the plastics material of the bristle carrier. The thickenings are shaped by means of a mold to a clearly defined support structure of webs connecting adjacent thickenings and subsequently the support structure and the bristles projecting over the same are embedded by a short length in the plastics material of the bristle carrier. An apparatus for performing such a method and a brush manufactured by such a method are also proposed.

Method and device for producing brushes and brushes produced using the same

A brush comprises a bristle carrier of at least two substantially parallel layers of different plastics produced in a two-component injection molding process and bristles fastened to at least one of the layers. The brush is characterized in that at least the bristle carrier layer remote from the bristles has openings, which are circumferentially closed and filled with the plastic of the other layer.

Brush, especially toothbrush

A bristle for brushware or brushes is described. The bristle is produced through cutting an extruded monofilament to length and tapers towards its useful end to form a kind of tip. The bristle is characterized in that it consists of at least two coextruded plastic components and has a shaft of a soft, elastic plastic material and a core of a harder elastic plastic material. The core projects past the shaft at its useful end thereby forming the tip. The bristle can also have a reinforcing jacket which surounds the shaft of the envelope. A method for producing such bristles is also described.

During processing of bristles, at least some bristles of a bristle stock are split, along at least part of their length, into several separate partial cross-sections or fingers under the action of mechanical forces. For simplified manufacture of bristles with defined fingers independent of their relative disposition, the mechanical forces are applied from different directions with respect to the longitudinal axis of the bristles preferably using a blunt, blade-free tool, e.g. a striking tool.
