A process for the purification of a crude propene oxide containing methanol and acetaldehyde by a continuously operated extractive distillation using an extraction solvent lowering the volatility of methanol and feeding a compound containing an unsubstituted NHgroup capable of reacting with acetaldehyde to a distillation column at a point above the feeding point of the crude propene oxide to give a purified propene oxide containing less than 100 ppm methanol and less than 100 ppm acetaldehyde. There is also disclosed a process for the catalytic epoxidation of propene that includes this purification stage.

Process for the purification of crude propene oxide

A continuous process for the epoxidation of olefins with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst promoting the epoxidation reaction, whereby the aqueous reaction mixture contains i) an olefin; ii) hydrogen peroxide; iii) less than 100 wppm of alkali metals, earth alkali metals, both irrespective whether in ionic, complex or covalently bonded form, bases or cations of bases having a pkof less than 4.5, or combinations thereof; and, iv) at least 100 wppm of bases or cations of bases having a pkof at least 4.5 or combinations thereof, whereby the wppm are based on the total weight of hydrogen peroxide in the reaction mixture.

A process for the recovery of combustible components of a gas stream containing the combustible components and oxygen by selective absorption of the combustible components in a solvent, whereby during the absorption the gas phase is dispersed in a continuous liquid phase of the solvent. In a preferred embodiment the process is applied to give a process for the epoxidation of propene with hydrogen peroxide in the alcoholic solvent in presence of a catalyst, wherein a gas stream including unreacted propene, propene oxide and oxygen from the decomposition of the hydrogen peroxide is separated from the epoxidation reaction mixture and the combustible components in said gas stream are recovered using the process as described above.

Microporous and mesoporous metal silicates are prepared by the hydrothermal reaction of a silicon and metal source in the presence of a template. The choice of raw materials influences the purity and hence the catalytic activity of the products. A pyrogenic mixed oxide is used as the silicon and metal source. Prepared products have the composition (SiO ) (A O ) , where A is Ti, Al, B, V or Zr and x is 0.005 to 0.1. Shaped objects of the microporous and mesoporous metal silicates are obtained directly by using a shaped object of the pyrogenic mixed oxide. The products obtained are used as oxidation catalysts.

The invention described herein relates to a process for the catalytic epoxidation of olefins with hydrogen peroxide in a continuous flow reaction system, wherein a gaseous phase containing an olefin and a liquid phase containing the hydrogen peroxide is present in the reaction system and the gaseous phase flows in countercurrent to the liquid phase.

The present invention relates to a process for the working up of a product stream from the epoxidation of olefins that contains olefin, olefin oxide, water-miscible organic solvent and water, by separating this product stream into an overhead product containing olefin, olefin oxide and organic solvent, and into a bottom product containing organic solvent and water, wherein the separation takes place in a pre-evaporator with at most 5 theoretical separation stages, and 20 to 60% of the total amount of organic solvent introduced with the product stream is removed with the overhead product and the residue remains in the bottom product, as well as a process for the epoxidation of olefins that includes this working up stage.

A process for the work-up of a reaction mixture formed by ammoximation of a ketone, in particular an alkanone or cycloalkanone, by means of hydrogen peroxide and ammonia in homogeneous solution over a titanium-containing catalyst. It comprises the substeps removal of the catalyst, selective separation of the oxime formed in the ammoximation from the reaction mixture, removal of water of reaction and recirculation of the solvent. The present invention relates to a process for the catalytic epoxidation of olefins in which in one reaction stage the olefin is reacted with aqueous hydrogen peroxide in an organic, water-miscible solvent in the presence of a titanium silicalite catalyst, wherein an exit gas stream is obtained which contains olefin oxide, unreacted olefin and oxygen and this exit gas stream is brought into contact in an absorption unit with the same solvent as used in the reaction stage and a solvent stream loaded with olefin and olefin oxide is drawn off from the absorption unit and an exit gas stream containing oxygen is discharged.
