A rubber sleeve for a printing press and a method for producing a rubber sleeve is disclosed. The rubber sleeve has a rigid support sleeve and a blanket that is wrapped around the support sleeve as well as is firmly connected to the support sleeve. The blanket has at least a two-layer structure with an inner layer embodied as a base layer and an outer layer serving as a functional layer for the printing process, where the butting edges of the blanket are connected to one another via a sealing material, which is introduced in a gap embodied between the butting edges. The sealing material is introduced in the gap embodied between the butting edges while forming a channel.

Rubber sleeve

An apparatus and method for bending a printing plate is disclosed. A bending machine, in particular for the bending of printing plates which are used in printing machines, includes a pressure pad, which exerts the required clamping force on the printing plate during the bending operation, and which is movable in relation to a holding-down plate, so that a uniform clamping force acts on the printing plate over the entire length of the pressure pad.

An ink transfer device which can be clamped on a rubber covered cylinder in a printing press includes a rubber blanket for transferring ink from a printing forme to a printing material, the blanket having a leading end and a trailing end which are separated by a non-ink transferring gap when the device is clamped on the cylinder; a carrier element fixed to the rubber blanket; and a pair of fixing elements for clamping the blanket on the cylinder, the fixing elements being positioned on the carrier adjacent to respective ends of the blanket. In order to minimize the non-ink transferring gap, the fixing elements and the carrier element are formed as separate subassemblies which are joined together.

The invention relates to a sleeve, particularly a rubber blanket sheath, for a printing machine. The sleeve () has a two-layer structure comprising an internal layer designed as support layer (), and an external layer designed as cover layer () and used for the print transfer, with the external or cover layer () being connected directly to the internal or support layer (). A three layer composite sheath also is disclosed.

A method for influencing lateral web spreading in a printing unit in a rotary printing press, the printing unit having first and second transfer cylinders contacting each other along a contact zone for receiving a web to be printed on therebetween and undergoing a deflection during operation, and at least one plate cylinder which is respectively settable against one of the first and second transfer cylinders for printing on at least one side of the web receivable in the contact zone. The method includes passing the web between the first and second transfer cylinders through the contact zone; and applying a bending moment to at least one of the first and second blanket cylinders counter to a direction of the deflection of the at least one of the first and second blanket cylinders to reduce the deflection, the bending moment being effected by a variable force applied to a cylinder axle of the at least one of the first and second blanket cylinders by a bending apparatus, so that a pressure in a center region of the contact zone along a length of the contact zone is increased thereby increasing the effective radius of at least one rubber blanket clamped onto one of the first and second transfer cylinders from the center region of the contact zone outward so that a concave velocity profile is produced on the web passing through the contact zone between the first and second transfer cylinders, the velocity at the outer sides of the concave velocity profile being greater than the velocity at the center of the velocity profile.

Method for influencing lateral web spreading in a printing unit in a rotary printing press

The transfer blanket (), in particular a rubber blanket, for a printing press, has a carrier layer (), a covering layer () and at least one intermediate layer () which is positioned between the carrier layer and the covering layer, the carrier layer protruding, compared with at least one intermediate layer, at at least one end of the transfer blanket (), using which end the said transfer blanket () can be fastened at a clamping point () of a printing press, and ends of the or each intermediate layer, which are of shortened configuration compared with the carrier layer (), being sealed with the aid of a sealing layer (). The sealing layer () extends over the carrier layer () in such a way that the transfer blanket can be fastened at the clamping point of the printing press at least via the carrier layer and the sealing layer.

The printing cylinder such as a rubber blanket cylinder of a web fed offset printing machine is provided. The printing cylinder includes a rotatable clamping mechanism in a clamping channel. A side of the clamping channel is configured so as to be movable such that the clamping channel can be opened by turning the clamping mechanism. When the clamping channel is open, the ends of the rubber blanket can be inserted. The clamping channel can then be closed by turning the clamping mechanism in the opposite direction such that the ends of the rubber blanket adjoin one another.

A printing unit for influencing lateral web spreading in particular in rotary presses, which makes constant contact conditions possible across the width in the rubber-rubber nip and improves the lateral-register quality and the web run without using concave or convex blanket cylinders, has a blanket cylinder and plate cylinders which can be set against the former for printing on one or both sides of a web. The web passes through between the blanket cylinders in a contact zone, it either being possible to skew at least one of the blanket cylinders with respect to the respective plate cylinder or it being possible to skew at least one of the plate cylinders with respect to the respective blanket cylinder, for producing a concave velocity profile on the web.

A rubber cylinder sleeve has a rubber covering with a layer construction which includes, at a distance from the outer surface, compressible layer elements and layer elements which influence the stiffness (S), such as filaments/yarns or fabric structures. The layer elements which influence the stiffness (S), are incorporated uniformly in the circumferential direction but are prestrained to various degrees in a defined manner in the direction of the sleeve axis, so that a stiffness profile is produced across the sleeve width, which profile is symmetrical with respect to the center of the sleeve width.

A non-flowing protective medium is applied in a finely distributed manner through a metering nozzle by means of blown air to the non-printing regions of at least one roll of an inking unit or damping unit and/or the non-printing regions of at least one transfer cylinder or forme cylinder, forming a thin-layer protective film. Ink is thereby prevented from drying out in non-printing regions of the rolls and cylinders of the printing unit, and the tack is thus kept at a low level, in order to reduce the risk of web breaks.

Apparatus for a stable machine run on printing units of a rotary press for operation with part-width printing material

A rubber cylinder sleeve for an offset printing press includes an inner carrier sleeve that has a circumferential and an axial direction. The carrier is expandable outwardly by an application of compressed air from the interior. The rubber cylinder sleeve also includes a single rubber layer having an inner surface disposed on the inner carrier sleeve and an outer surface for contacting the printing plate. The single rubber layer includes a plurality of compressible elements for increasing the compressibility of the single rubber layer and a plurality of filaments for increasing the stiffness of the single rubber layer. The compressible elements and the filaments are disposed at a distance from the outer surface.

Rubber cylinder sleeve for offset printing presses

An apparatus and method for storing rubber-covered cylinder sleeves for offset printing for rotary printing machines permits an identified rubber-covered cylinder sleeve to be found easily. The apparatus is equipped with an electronic memory device into which, for each rubber-covered cylinder sleeve, characteristic data can be entered and stored. As the rubber-covered cylinder sleeve is introduced into a storage, the characteristic data from the rubber-covered cylinder sleeve are read into the memory device, and the rubber-covered cylinder sleeve can be removed from the storage apparatus in accordance with predefined data.

Apparatus and method for storing sleeves for rotary printing machines

A reliable, wear-resistant sealing for a collecting and folding cylinder includes, on each folding blade shaft, a disk (4) which has a sealing ring (13) arranged on the collar of the side facing the oil space (6) of the folding cylinder (1). The disk (4) can be pressed by means of a clamping ring (5) arranged on the folding blade shaft (2) against a covering disk (3) eccentrically arranged on the shaft (2). The disks (3, 4) are rotatably connected with one another via a bearing (11) and a stud (12). An additional sealing ring (17) is provided at the collar of the side of the covering disk 3 facing the oil space (6).
