A process for producing exhaust gas manifolds is provided, which have a flange for fastening to the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, manifold pipes for leading off the exhaust gases flowing from the cylinders, and a pipe connector, wherein the pipe connector has openings for the manifold pipes. In accordance with the invention, the pipe connector is designed with reinforced openings. Then the ends of the manifold pipes are introduced into the openings and expanded. In this process, the pipe ends undergo plastic deformation, and the pipes are connected gas-tight.

Processes for producing exhaust gas manifolds

A housing for a flue gas unit is provided that includes a closed jacket and two end walls as well as an insert with inlet pipe an outlet pipe and retaining walls, wherein one of the pipes exits from the housing jacket radially. The housing jacket is cut out around the one pipe, the cutout is closed by a concave closing panel adapted to the shape of the cutout, and the closing panel has an opening for the radial pipe end.

Housings for flue gas units

A flange for attaching an exhaust manifold to an engine block. The flange having two layers of sheet metal plates accurately connected to each other and having openings which are aligned with the cylinder outlets of the engine block, and attachment openings which are placed on stay bolts on the engine block. The flange includes at least two flange portions, whereby the plates of adjacent flange portions overlap in the area at least of one attachment opening. The contact surfaces can have a slide coating in the overlap area.

In an arrangement for mounting pipe end flanges to the exhaust gas passages of a cylinderhead of an internal combustion engine, the cylinderhead has pockets formed at one side of the exhaust gas passages and the pipe end flanges have projections projecting in opposite directions. One of the flange projections is received in the respective pocket while the opposite one is engaged by a guide strap holding the flange in engagement with the cylinderhead. A gasket and spring structure is disposed between the flange and the cylinderhead for controlling the engagement pressure between the flange and the cylinderhead.

Arrangement for mounting a pipe end flange

An exhaust butterfly in an exhaust conduit of an internal combustion engine is supported by way of bearing journals by positive plug-in connections. To simplify installation, the bearing journals and the bearing sleeves are designed in such a way that, to install the exhaust butterfly, the bearing journals are each pressed completely into the respective bearing sleeves counter to the force of a spring. In the case of a multiflow exhaust line, between adjacent exhaust lines cylindrical transverse passages are provided in each of which a driver is rotatably mounted. At one end, the driver has a recess which is designed as a bearing sleeve and into which the bearing journal of the first exhaust butterfly is inserted to produce a driving connection. The other end of the driver is designed as a bearing journal which is likewise inserted into a recess in the second exhaust butterfly to produce a driving connection.
