The present disclosure relates to a Controller Area Network (CAN) system including: a CAN device and a monitoring device. The CAN device includes a transmit data (TXD) interface, a transmitter, a CAN BUS interface, and a control unit. The control unit reads out an identifier from a TXD message and compares the identifier with a reference tag. The CAN device generates a CAN BUS signal based on the TXD message at the CAN BUS interface. The control unit, if the comparison indicates that the identifier does not correspond to the reference tag, invalidates a representation of the TXD message by the CAN BUS signal and temporarily prevents another CAN BUS signal from being generated by the CAN device at the CAN BUS interface. The monitoring device receives an instruction message over a CAN BUS network and, in response, tests for reachability other CAN devices on the CAN BUS network.

Controller area network system and a method for the system

The disclosure relates to a transceiver device for communicating between a network protocol controller and a network bus, the transceiver device comprising: transceiver circuitry configured to transmit and receive data on the network bus using a first physical layer protocol; and monitoring circuitry configured to determine a measured property of the network bus, in which the transceiver device is configured to: determine whether the measured property indicates an error condition; and reconfigure the transceiver circuitry to transmit and receive data on the network bus using a second physical layer protocol in response to determining the error condition.

Transceiver device

The disclosure relates to a transceiver device, an electronic control unit and an associated method. The transceiver device is suitable for communicating between one or more network protocol controllers and a network bus and comprises: first interface circuitry configured to communicate with the one or more network protocol controllers; second interface circuitry configured to communicate with the one or more network protocol controllers; and selector circuitry configured to switch communication with the one or more network protocol controllers from the first interface circuitry to the second interface circuitry in response to a communication error in data carried on the first interface circuitry.

A communication device is configured to exchange regular data bidirectionally with counterpart communication device via a regular interface; and to exchange additional data bidirectionally with the counterpart device via an additional interface. The device has a regular pinout corresponding to the regular interface that enables communication of regular data with the counterpart device; and an additional pinout with at least one additional pin, corresponding to the additional interface that enables communication of additional data with the counterpart device. The device has default data handling circuitry communicatively coupled to the additional pin, and configured, in a default mode, to transmit and receive additional default data via the additional pin. The first device has additional function data handling circuitry communicatively coupled to the additional pin and configured, in an active mode, to transmit and receive additional function data via the additional interface.

Additional communication in standardized pinout of a bidirectional interface between a first and second communication device

A transceiver for sending and receiving data from a controller area network (CAN) bus I disclosed. The transceiver is configured to detect if a node, after losing an arbitration, has sent a dominant bit on the CAN bus. The transceiver further configured to send a predefined bit pattern on the CAN bus after receiving the dominant bit from the node.

CAN transceiver

The present application relates to a node for conducting measurements and signal analyses on a bus supporting multi-master access of a plurality of nodes or a transceiver of the node. The transceiver is configured to detect bus signals and to convert the detected bus signals into a bit stream. A protocol engine is arranged to receive the bit stream. The protocol engine transitions between states, which are indicative of at least an exclusive access phase, during which only one of the plurality of nodes is allowed to assert signals on the bus. A detector is configured to assert an enable indication for a period of time on detecting that the protocol engine is in a state indicative of the exclusive access phase. A diagnosis module is configured to conduct measurements in response to the asserted enable indication.
