There is proposed a method and corresponding apparatuses allowing a change from a packet switched communication domain to a circuit switched communication domain. When a user equipment as a connection terminating point receives a connection initialization message with a media flow, such as audio, which cannot be delivered by the packet switched access, it sends a specific response rejecting the connection via the packet switched access to an application server for service centralization and continuity. In the application server, it is checked whether several conditions are met in order to determine whether the communication connection comprising the media flow is allowed to be changed to the circuit switched domain. If yes, the communication connection is changed from the packet switched communication domain to the circuit switched communication domain.

Access change for re-routing a connection

The present invention relates to hiding a device identifier (IMEI) in a communication system. Identifying a device is done by indicating an international mobile equipment identity (IMEI) as an instance identifier of the device of a user. Generating a globally routable user agent uniform resource identifier (GRUU) for the user is done by encrypting the instance identifier so that the GRUU comprises an identity of the user and the encrypted instance identifier.

Disclosed is a method including having an ongoing communication session via a packet switched network, transferring said communication session from the packet switched network to a second network providing both packet and circuit switched access, and informing an application server maintaining said ongoing communication session that the communication session is to be split into a packet switched part and a circuit switched part. Also disclosed is a method in an application server, including receiving, from a first communication device, an indication that a communication session between the first communication device and a second communication device is to be split into a packet switched part and a circuit switched part, waiting for to receive transfer requests of both the packet switched part and the circuit switched part, and informing the second communication device of the split.

The present invention relates to a method and terminal device for handling a suspended network state, wherein the end of a suspended network state is detected and subscription to a state event package is initiated in response to the detected end of suspension. Based on information given in a response to the subscription, registrations of user identities are updated. Thereby, the registration state of the user and the user's identities can always be kept actual, even after a suspension of the network connection.

The routing information is extracted from a received message at a border between a first network and a second network, and at least one invalid entry is added to first-network entries of the routing information which relate to a routing path of the message within the first network. The at least one invalid entry and the first-network entries are encrypted by using an own token at least for each of the first-network entries. As an alternative, a tokenized second-network entry extracted from the routing information and relating to the routing path of the message within the second network is decrypted, and its content is reversed. In both cases, the routing information is replaced by the processed routing information and the message is forwarded to the second network. This allows to preserve the order of routing entries and to hide the amount of switches that have been traversed in the home network.

A system, apparatus and method for identifying particular applications in a multi-application terminal environment to which incoming network messages should be directed. A registration message is generated at a terminal having multiple applications, and is transmitted to a registrar to be registered. System, apparatus, and method for providing multi-application support using a single protocol stack

An apparatus and method initiates a conference call in a telecommunication system. A call set up message is sent by a user's equipment, a message header indicating the equipment's own public identity as the call recipient and a tag indicating that the user equipment only accepts a conference call server as the recipient of the message. A network element configured to process messages from the user equipment receives the message and redirects the message to a conference call server on the basis of the header fields of the message. The conference call server detects that the message is a conference call set up message on the basis of the header fields of the message, and establishes a conference call.

A system, apparatus and method for releasing sessions via network entities associated with the session, where the network entities include at least session endpoints and intermediary network entities. Network entities are subscribed to intermediary network entities serving as notifiers. The session release notification is logically advanced towards a remote one of the session endpoints via the intermediary network entities. A network entity subscribes to the presence information of a user, and receives notifications of the users' presence information when the user has registered with the network or the presence information has changed. In response, the network entity creates routing instructions based on the presence information. In this manner, incoming communication requests can be appropriately routed according to the routing instructions.

A private communications network and method of private communications network operation. One or more communications servers each have connected communications devices. From communications devices users enter called party numbers that may include a carrier access code (CAC) and carrier identification code (CIC). The called party number is checked for a CAC and any identified CAC/CIC is parsed from the called party number. The parsed called party number and the CAC/CIC are passed independently of each other over a private network to a public network gateway server. The public network gateway server directs the parsed called party number to a carrier network identified by the CIC, connecting the user to the called party.
