A system transmits electric signals, electric energy or media over short distances between units movable relative to each other. The system has at least one first unit disposed along the trajectory of the movement and at least one second unit disposed for movement relative to the first unit. A diagnosis unit is associated with at least one of the units to detect the condition of at least one of said movable units and signals that detected condition to a central control unit.

Self-diagnosing transmission system

A rotating data transmission device for computer tomographs, for transmission from a rotating part to a stationary part that is rotatably supported relative to the rotating part, comprises at least one dielectric waveguide assigned to the rotating part, at least one first line coupler for coupling electrical signals into the at least one dielectric waveguide, and at least one coupler assigned to the stationary part for tapping electrical signals from the at least one dielectric waveguide. The dielectric waveguide is divided into at least two segments of approximately the same length, signals are coupled into the segments of the dielectric waveguides through a first line coupler to propagate in opposite directions, and ends of the segments distant from the line coupler are provided with terminations.

Rotating data transmission device

The invention relates to a device and a method for transmitting digital signals between at least two units disposed to move relative to each other. By combining information signals with random signals, the spectral power density of a signal is reduced for the same transmission power. The device can include a data transmitter, pseudo random generator or random generator, and a combining unit for combining the output from the transmitter with the output from the generator. The combined result is sent across a transmission path where it is received by a data receiver. The receiver has a combining unit for receiving the combined result compared to a second pseudo random or random generator output for recreating the original transmitter output.

Device and method for low interference signal transmission

An inductive rotary joint for non-contact transmission of electrical energy between a stationary part and a rotating part of the rotary joint comprises a power generator for generating an alternating voltage or an alternating current, which feeds a load by means of a rotatable power transmitter. An electrical parameter on the primary side of the power transmitter is determined with a measurement means, and from this, the condition of another electrical parameter at the load is approximated by means of a functional unit. Regulation of the power generator is effected with this approximated value.

A non-contacting data path for rotating data transmission of digital data from a data source to a data sink includes at least one clock modulator. A data clock frequency is specifically modulated with the clock modulator to widen a spectrum of data signals and achieve improved EMC properties in measurements according to valid EMC Standards. Owing to use of a plurality of clock modulators along a course of a non-contacting rotary transmission path, signal jitter caused by individual components of the data transmission path is in each case replaced by artificially caused jitter of clock modulation. Thus, data transmission with defined jitter and defined signal quality can be achieved.

An optical transmission system in a computer tomograph for transmitting modulated optical signals between a first unit and a second unit, the first unit being supported to be rotatable relative to the second unit, comprises: a light guide disposed along a circular or annular track on the first unit; at least one first light coupler connected with the light guide for coupling light into or out of the light guide; at least one second light coupler disposed on the second unit to be movable relative to the light guide for coupling light into or out of the light guide. In order to remove from the light guide surface any contaminating matter that would lead to a high signal attenuation or an interference with transmission, a cleaning unit is provided for removing dirt and dust particles. Furthermore, a sealing of the system is provided by applying, amongst other means, pressurized air or electrostatic filtering.

A device for receiving digital signals comprising at least one receiving antenna, a measuring means for determining parameters of relevance to signal quality, a digitizer, and a signal-processing unit. The signal-processing unit is controlled to optimize the reception of the digital signals on the basis of the parameters determined by the measuring means. Digital signal transmitter devices mostly present a distinct wide-band interference spectrum which renders compliance with the presently applicable EMC standards substantially more difficult. Available provisions for improving the EMC characteristics take an influence on the quality in transmission and on the immunity to interference. By the inventive method the carrier signal or output signal, respectively, of the transmitter is so modulated that the narrow spectral lines are spread and the spectral power density is reduced.

A transmission controller is provided on the rotating part for compiling, from video data of a video source and from control information of a control unit, serial data for transmission to the stationary part by means of a rotary joint. A receiving controller is provided in the stationary part for receiving the serial data transmitted by the rotary joint and for evaluating these data and communicating the control information contained therein to a control unit, and the video data to a data sink. The serial data generated by the transmission controller comprise data frames, and video data and control information each being transmitted in a data frame.
