A method facilitates simultaneously balancing mechanically coupled, synchronously rotating rotors. The rotors have different axes of rotation relative to one another and together define a rotor group to be balanced. Each rotor has at least one of a bearing plane and an other measuring plane associated therewith, the other measuring plane significantly describing vibrations of the each rotor. The rotors within the rotor group together have a number of different angular velocities associated therewith. At least one rotor of the rotor group is equipped with at least one vibration pickup in at least one of each bearing plane and the other measuring plane thereof. As many impulse and phase transmitters are installed in the rotor group as are provided the number of different angular velocities associated with the rotors within the rotor group. At least pertaining vibration signals and a pertaining speed signal are recorded simultaneously, with regard to a respective one of each bearing plane and the other measuring plane. For each bearing plane and the other measuring plane, the coefficients of influence thereof are determined by applying a method of coefficients of influence and setting defined test unbalances. At least one corresponding matrix of coefficients of influence is generated, and a counterbalance mass distribution from the at least one corresponding matrix of coefficients of influence is determined for every operating balance plane of the rotor group. Each bearing plane and measuring plane define one test balance plane.

Method of balancing rotors

Process and apparatus for drilling holes in a shell of a paper machine cylinder, which is in its operating position. The process includes fixing a drilling apparatus to a cylinder adjacent to the cylinder to be drilled, and substantially eliminating influences of mechanical play due to structures of the adjacent cylinder prior to drilling, which includes coupling a support member to the adjacent cylinder to exert tangential forces on the adjacent cylinder, whereby the mechanical play is substantially eliminated. The apparatus includes a stationary framework supportable on the paper machine, a feed frame that is radially movable along said stationary framework relative to the shell, a drive unit, a plurality of drilling modules coupled to said feed frame, which are rotatable via the drive unit, a fixing device couplable to and adjacent cylinder, a device for eliminating influence of mechanical play due to structures of said adjacent cylinder, and support members adapted to exert tangential forces on said adjacent cylinder.

Process and apparatus for drilling holes in the shell of a cylinder

In a drying section of a machine for producing a material web such as, in particular, a paper or cardboard web, a pick-up suction roll, in particular a larger pick-up suction roll, is provided between the last pressing nip of a pressing section and a subsequent impingement drying unit, which suction roll removes the material web from a pressing felt guided through the pressing nip or from a transfer belt and transfers it to the impingement drying unit.

The roll includes a jacket having a plurality of throughput openings, a device for supplying gas through the jacket, and a second jacket located within the jacket being arranged to form a ring chamber with the jacket. Drying roll for drying a material web

An apparatus transfers a threading strip and/or a material web can from a pick-up area into a transfer area along a web travel path for production and/or processing/of the strip and/or web. The device includes a carrier for moving the strip and/or web along the web travel path through the machine at a carrier speed. The device also includes at least one pick-up unit for transferring the strip and/or web from the pick-up area to the transfer area at relocation speed that is lower than the carrier speed.

Device and method for transferring a threading strip or a material strip

Process and apparatus for operating an apparatus to drill holes in the shell of a paper machine cylinder. The apparatus includes a stationary framework supportable on the paper machine, a feed frame that is radially movable along the stationary framework relative to the shell, and a drive unit. A plurality of drilling modules are coupled to the feed frame, which are rotatable via the drive unit, and the drilling modules include a drive shaft, at least two spindle heads, and at least two intermediate shafts arranged between the drive shaft and the at least two spindle heads, in which at least one of the at least two spindle heads in each drilling module is rotatable about a respective intermediate shaft of the drilling modules. The process includes rotating at least one of the at least two spindle heads about a respective intermediate shaft of the drilling module arranged between a drive shaft and the at least one spindle head, such that a mutual distance between spindle shaft centers of the at least two spindle heads in the drilling modules is adjusted.

Cylinder that includes at least one stationary portion and at least one rotatable portion and a support and a method for sealing the same. The at least one rotatable portion includes a bearing axle rotatably coupled to the support, and the at least one stationary portion includes at least one stationary connection that is rotatably coupled to the bearing axle and that is adapted for at least one of inserting and removing at least one of a heating and cooling medium through the bearing axle. The cylinder also includes a sealing device that is composed of at least one brush seal and that is positioned between the at least one stationary portion and the at least one rotatable portion. The method includes rotatably coupling a bearing axle of a rotatable cylinder to a support. The bearing axle is fixedly coupled to a rotatable member and includes a channel adapted for at least one of insertion and removal of at least one of a heating and a cooling medium through the bearing axle. The method also includes coupling at least one stationary connection to the bearing axle for relative rotation, and positioning at least one brush seal between the at least one stationary connection and the rotatable member.

Heatable and/or coolable cylinder

A machine for manufacturing a continuous material web, in particular a paper or cardboard web, with at least one perforated cylinder sleeve and a suction roll exhibiting a manhole around which the material web is guided preferably with the aid of a transport band, whereby the interior of the suction roll can be put under a vacuum and is subdivided into at least two sections by a partition wall that is arranged essentially perpendicular to the rotation axis of the suction roll, wherein the partition wall is subdivided into sections and/or is manufactured of a flexible material and can thereby be inserted through the manhole and into the roll interior.

Machine for manufacturing a continuous material web

In a dryer section comprised of several drying groups, and particularly an alternating single tier dryer section, one of the bottom felted drying groups is arranged with respect to the paper machine floor so at least the rotating shafts at the axis of the drying cylinders of the one drying group are below the paper machine floor. The guide rolls of the bottom felted drying group and of an adjacent top felted drying group may be in one horizontal shaft plane above the paper machine floor. An intermediate floor is provided beneath the main machine floor and the bottom of the basement beneath the one drying group. Easier access to the drying cylinders and elements of both top felted and bottom felted drying groups is obtained.

Drying cylinder positioning for dryer section

A dryer section of a machine for manufacturing fiber webs, which includes a plurality of heatable drying cylinders arranged to form at least a first dryer group and a second dryer group, and arranged in horizontal cylinder rows, and including a plurality of suction rolls each being disposed between two adjacent cylinders. The cylinders of the first group have axes disposed in a first plane I, the suction rolls of the first group have axes disposed in a second plane II, the cylinders of the second group have axes disposed in a third plane III, and the suction rolls of the second group have axes disposed in a fourth plane IV. In accordance with different embodiments planes I and II may be coplanar, planes II and III may be coplanar; planes I and III may be disposed between planes II and IV; and the axes of the first drying cylinders and its associated suction roll of the second group may be disposed below the axes of the other drying cylinders and suction rolls of the second group.

Dryer section

A dryer section with two dryer groups and a transfer for the paper web between the dryer groups. The receiving dryer group has a vacuum roll on which the felt of the proceeding dryer group is partially wrapped. An adjusting mechanism enables the wrap angle to be adjusted between an arc angle of 0 and 20 degrees.

A drying end which comprises a plurality of drying groups. Referring to FIG. 2, each drying group has its own endless support belt (171-175) which travels together with the web alternately over drying cylinders (101-138) and guide rollers. In each drying group, at least some of the drying cylinders lie in a row of cylinders (161-168) which is arranged approximately vertically. Within the first drying group (160/161) the web travels downward through a vertical cylinder row (161), the lower side of the web contacting the cylinders. In the second drying group (162/163), the web first of all travels upward, the upper side of the web contacting the cylinders. At least two drying groups have two vertical cylinder rows (162-167). Referring to these later two groups, the rows of guide rollers in one drying group are arranged outside the corresponding cylinder rows, and in the other drying group the guide rollers are arranged inside the cylinder rows.

Drying end for a machine for manufacturing fiber webs

A guide roll for a porous belt, for instance for the drying wire of a paper machine, is described. A perforated roll shell rotates about a stationary air guide box. The guide box has two air chambers which extend across the length of the guide roll. One air chamber serves the discharge of blowing air and the other air chamber serves the intake and removal of suction air. Contained between the air guide box and the roll shell is an annular space in which a blowing zone and a suction zone are defined by longitudinal seals. Considering that blowing air and suction air may have different temperatures, the two air chambers of the air guide box are movable axially relative to each other.

Guide roll for a porous belt

Process and device for drying a material web which together with a backing belt alternately runs across heatable drying cylinders which are contacted by the material web and across guide rolls contacted by the backing belt. At the travel section of the material web from one drying cylinder to the next, drying air is fed to the material web in relatively narrow blow zones. Located between the narrow blow zones are relatively wide steam release spaces from which the water vapor-laden drying air is removed.
