A water-conducting household appliance includes a moving component, an electric motor for moving the component, a load apparatus configured to apply a resistance to counter movement of the component as a function of a position of the moving component, and a control apparatus for actuating the electric motor. The control apparatus is configured to detect a drive current drawn which is drawn by the electric motor and is a function of the resistance applied by the load apparatus and to ascertain the position of the moving component as a function of the detected drive current.

An auxiliary cooling device is used in another main cooling device, such as a refrigerator. The auxiliary cooling device includes a thermoelectric element, such as a Peltier element, which includes a heat source and a heat sink. The heat sink is used to directly or indirectly cool an item, such as a bottle of liquid. The heat source, which is insulated from the heat sink, is in close thermal contact with a heat exchange fluid in a container. The heat exchange fluid is used as a thermal buffer for the waste heat generated by the cooling process. That waste heat may be transmitted into the main storage chamber of the main cooling device.

An auxiliary cooling device to be used in another cooling device, which auxiliary cooling device includes a thermoelectric element, such as a Peltier element, provided with a heat source and a heat sink connected in a circuit. The heat sink is used for directly or indirectly cooling an item, for example a bottle of fluid. The heat source, which is thermally isolated with respect to the heat sink, is in close thermal contact with a heat exchange fluid in a container. The heat exchange fluid is used as a thermal buffer for the waste heat generated by the cooling process.

A warning signal is supplied when an estimated quantity of ice exceeds a predetermined limit value.

The ice container is in thermal contact with the refrigerant circuit by a first heat exchanger. A second sub-assembly that is located in a freezer compartment of the refrigeration device contains a second heat exchanger of the refrigerant circuit. Water in the ice container is cooled by the dissipation of heat from the second heat exchanger to the freezer compartment.
