A phosphor arrangement for at least partly converting an excitation radiation is provided. The phosphor arrangement includes a phosphor and a fracture detector used for monitoring the phosphor. The fracture detector includes at least one line track which is operatively connected to the phosphor. The line track extends around the phosphor at least in sections with at least one loop.

Various embodiments may relate to a lighting device, including at least one primary light source for generating primary light, a phosphor volume spaced apart from the at least one primary light source and serving for at least partly converting the primary light into secondary light having a different wavelength, at least one light sensor for detecting light generated by the at least one primary light source, and an evaluation unit for determining a case of damage of the phosphor volume on the basis of sensor data of at least one light sensor. The lighting device includes at least one additional light source for irradiating the phosphor volume, and is designed to operate the at least one additional light source, the at least one light sensor and the evaluation unit with the primary light source switched off.

Various embodiment may relate to a lighting device, including a light mixing element having a light entry surface and a light exit surface, multiple light sources, the primary light of which can be is radiated onto the light entry surface, a wavelength conversion unit having a carrier, on which a luminescent volume is arranged, which luminescent volume can be is illuminated by means of the primary light emitted by the light exit surface, and at least one decoupling optical unit for forming useful light emitted by the wavelength conversion unit, which has at least one non-imaging safety region. The multiple light sources radiate the primary light thereof at an angle onto the light entry surface. The at least one safety region occupies a position on the decoupling optical unit which corresponds to a region of high intensity of the primary light in the case of remote luminescent volume.
