Ventilating fan

An axial ventilator () has a housing () and a fan wheel () arranged in the housing () to generate an axial air flow through the housing (). The fan wheel () has multiple fan wheel blades () that extend radially outward from a hub () up to a respective blade tip (). The blades extend spaced apart from an inner wall of the housing () via a head gap (). The fan wheel blades () have boreholes () along the respective blade tip ().

Fan housing

A fan has an air conveying conduit () and a fan wheel () arranged therein, which wheel is rotatable about a central axis () and is formed with a central hub () having an outer periphery () on which fan blades () are mounted. These extend with their radially outer rims () as far as a surface () that is substantially coaxial with the central axis () and delimits the air conveying conduit () externally. The blades () have a profile similar to an airfoil profile. A flow element () is provided along the radial outer edge () of a fan blade and serves as an obstacle to a compensating flow proceeding around that radial outer edge () from the delivery side to the intake side, and likewise has, in cross section, an airfoil profile. Adjacent the front edge () and rear edge () of a blade (), it has substantially the same outline as the adjacent part of the associated blade (), and in a middle region () between the front and back edge is wider, by an approximately constant amount, than the adjacent part of the blade ().

A radial blower, in particular, for a breathing apparatus, has a blower housing with a central, axial intake opening and a radial or approximately tangential outlet opening as well as a motor-driven radial blower wheel arranged axially between the intake opening and the outlet opening. The radial blower wheel has a cover disk at the axial side facing the outlet opening with such a large diameter that between the outer circumference of the cover disk and an inner circumferential surface of the housing a constricted annular flow gap for the medium flowing through the radial blower wheel in the direction toward the outlet opening is formed.
