The invention inter alia relates to a balanced frequency doubler comprising a first frequency doubler unit providing a first input port and a second input port, a second frequency doubler unit providing a third input port and a fourth input port, wherein the first, second, third and fourth input port are configured to receive a first, second, third and fourth input signal, respectively, wherein the first, second, third and fourth input signals all have the same first harmonic frequency, but are phase-shifted relative to one another, wherein a first current, the frequency spectrum of which comprises a second harmonic frequency that is double the first harmonic frequency, is driven through the first frequency doubler unit in response to the first and second input signal, wherein a second current, the frequency spectrum of which also comprises the second harmonic frequency, is driven through the second frequency doubler unit in response to the third and fourth input signals, and wherein a balanced output signal of the frequency doubler is influenced by the first and second current.

Balanced frequency doubler

A circuit arrangement for a front end of an FMCW radar transceiver, with a signal terminal that is configured so as to couple to a signal filter device for purposes of signal exchange, a further signal terminal that is configured so as to couple to a VCO device for purposes of signal exchange, and an electronic circuit, which with the aid of a switching device included in the electronic circuit can be switched over between a reception circuit configuration and a transmission circuit configuration, is disclosed. The switching device has an RF switch, with which a signal route formed respectively in the RF switch, is embodied asymmetrically, in that the signal route in a reception circuit configuration and the signal route in a transmission circuit configuration have a different number of switching stages. A FMCW radar transceiver, and a method for the operation of a front end are also disclosed.

An external optical resonator for use with a semiconductor laser has a high selectivity and phase steepness for the input reflection factor in the region of the resonance frequency and is highly stable. An optical directional coupler is coupled to the semiconductor laser and two gates of the coupler are connected to one another by a radiation transmission path for externally transmitting radiant power. The coupling factor of the directional coupler is selected such that the radiation coupled into one waveguide of the coupler is nearly completely coupled over to the other waveguide of the coupler. Nearly complete suppression of all secondary modes is obtained by using a wavelength selective directional coupler in place of a broad band directional coupler.

External optical resonator for a semiconductor laser

A narrow band laser transmitter comprising a semiconductor laser and an external optical resonator coupled by a coupling arrangement to the semiconductor laser characterized by the external optical resonator being a wavelength-selective fiber directional coupler in the form of a double core fiber whose cores have different refractive index discontinuities to the respective environments and different cross-sections. The laser transmitter is suitable for practical use, has a space-saving structure and is stable in operation.
