A cam follower adapted for use in connection with a turntable assembly includes a common support shaft having a longitudinal axis and first and second roller assemblies, each having an outer tire portion and an inner bearing portion. The outer tire portions have curved outer peripheries shaped as truncated spheres, spheroids or ellipsoids, are rotatable about the longitudinal axis independently of one another, and are formed from a polymer material, such as polyimide, polyaryletherketone (PAEK), acetal, cast nylon 12 or cast nylon 6. The outer tire portion of the first roller assembly is adapted to be positioned a first radial distance, and the outer tire portion of the second roller assembly is adapted to be positioned a second radial distance, from the axis of rotation of the turntable assembly, the second radial distance being different than the first radial distance.

Twin cam follower

A cam follower includes a shaft and a hub rotatable with respect to the shaft via at least one bearing. A flanged tire is affixed to the outer peripheral surface of the hub, the flanged tire having a main body portion and a flange portion extending radially outwardly therefrom. The main body portion and the flange portion are integrally formed from a polymeric material, and the hub, the main body portion and the flange portion are disposed so as to define a generally planar outer surface. A flange support plate, having a support plate outer diameter that is generally equal to or greater than the flange diameter, is positioned abutting the generally planar outer surface and is rigidly affixed to the hub, the flange support plate being formed from a metal material, thereby providing structural support to the flange portion for axial forces applied to the flange portion.

Flanged cam follower

Described is an adjustable roll drive including a fixed drive cylinder having a fixed drive gear, a fixed intermediate gear rotated by the fixed drive gear, a movable intermediate gear rotated by the fixed intermediate gear, and a movable driven cylinder having a movable driven gear wherein the movable driven gear is rotated by the movable intermediate gear. A linkage system is employed to maintain a substantially constant distance between axes of successive gears and an adjustment mechanism to vary a distance between the fixed drive cylinder and the movable driven cylinder. The continuously adjustable roll drive may be adapted further for use in grain grinding operations.

A flexible bushing for a cam follower, comprising a substantially rigid inner sleeve including an inner cam follower engaging surface, a length of the inner sleeve being greater than a thickness of a ram into which the flexible bushing is inserted, a substantially rigid outer sleeve including an outer ram engaging surface, a length of the outer sleeve being substantially equal to the thickness of the ram, the inner and outer sleeves being substantially concentric, and a shock absorbing flexible material disposed between the inner and outer sleeves.

A machine for the forming of the body member of two-piece metal cans uses a carrier upon which are mounted six or more pairs of ram assemblies. The rams are driven by cam action on a fixed track and the rams each carry a pair of wheels which ride on the track. Each of the rams is rectangular in cross-section, to counteract centrifugal force, and is an aluminum alloy coated with a Teflon-ceramic coating so that the ram is light in weight and does not require a liquid lubricant.

Ram for metal can shaper

A can-making necker machine to form the bottom and neck of two-piece metal cans has pusher rams. Each pusher has a cam follower which follows a track or groove. The cam follower is not lubricated but instead has rolling surfaces which are coated with a low-friction high-impact diamond film.
