Peptides and methods for the treatment of inflammatory disease

This invention relates to methods for the treatment or prevention of central nervous system (CNS) cell damage and functional damage in mammals due to demyelinating disease including multiple sclerosis. More specifically, the invention comprises a method of treating a demyelinating disease of the CNS in a mammal, the method comprising co-administering to the mammal, either sequentially or simultaneously, GPE or analogues or peptidomimetics or a prodrug thereof, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and an AMPA (&#x3b1;-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionate)/kainate antagonist, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and an anti-inflammatory agent.

Treatment of demyelinating diseases

The present invention relates to novel human proteins and isolated nucleic acids containing the coding regions of the genes encoding such proteins. Also provided are vectors, host cells and recombinant methods for producing the proteins of the invention. The invention further relates to diagnostic and therapeutic methods useful for diagnosing and treating disorders related to these novel human secreted proteins.
