A technique facilitates use of sensor data, e.g., pressure data, associated with hydraulic control lines. According to an embodiment, a well string is deployed in a borehole and comprises a tool coupled with a hydraulic control line and operated via hydraulic inputs delivered through the hydraulic control line. Additionally, a sensor is coupled to the hydraulic control line to monitor pressure in the hydraulic control line. The sensor may be located permanently downhole proximate the tool. A control module is configured to collect data from the sensor and to compare the data to a baseline pressure profile associated with the tool. The sensor data may be used to determine characteristics related to operation of the tool.

Downhole monitoring of hydraulic equipment

A technique facilitates use of sensor data, e.g. pressure data, associated with hydraulic control lines. A downhole tool includes an upper flow tube connected to a lower flow tube, an upper flapper sub-assembly including an upper flapper, and a lower flapper sub-assembly including a lower flapper. The upper and lower flapper sub-assemblies are installed with respect to the upper and lower flow tubes in an 'O' configuration such that the upper and lower flapper sub-assemblies are in a closed position. The upper and lower flapper sub-assemblies are capable of being independently actuated. The upper and lower flow tubes remain stationary when the upper flapper sub-assembly or the lower flapper sub-assembly is actuated from the closed position to an open position.

A downhole tool in accordance to aspects of the disclosure includes a housing forming a bore to convey a wellbore fluid, an actuating piston moveably disposed in a cylinder located in the housing adjacent to the bore and a barrier fluid isolating the actuating piston from the bore. The downhole tool may include a compensator piston in communication with the barrier fluid and the bore that is moveable to balance the pressure between the barrier fluid and the bore.

A technique facilitates prolonging the useful life of a subsurface valve without requiring replacement of the entire hydraulic chamber housing of the subsurface valve. A removable piston tube is provided and may be inserted into a valve housing of a subsurface valve. The removable piston tube is removably secured within a piston passage in the valve housing via a fastening mechanism. If necessary, the removable piston tube can be removed and replaced without requiring replacement of the overall housing.
