According to one or more embodiments, a network node is provided. The network node includes processing circuitry configured to: determine a first resource block per symbol (RBSYM) quantity of a first portion of a frequency-time resource grid; determine a second RBSYM quantity of a second portion of the frequency-time resource grid, the second portion being associated a different Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing, OFDM, numerology than the first portion; and perform at least one action based at least in part on the first RBSYM quantity and the second RBSYM quantity.

Generic resource model for observability

A target cell for handover of a wireless device from a source cell to the target cell is provided. The target cell includes processing circuitry configured to: determine to configure the source cell as a downlink carrier aggregation secondary cell, DL CA SCell, for the wireless device, and cause transmission of an indication to the source cell to at least one of: temporarily retain, after the handover, at least a portion of information specific to the wireless device; and transmit the at least the portion of information specific to the wireless device to the target cell. The indication is based at least in part on the determination.

Quality of service driven spectrum sharing

Embodiments of a method in a network node configured to transmit data using an automatic retransmission process are disclosed. The method comprises: receiving data to be transmitted to a remote endpoint; and when all process identifiers in a predetermined set of process identifiers are currently in use: selecting one process identifier from the predetermined set of process identifiers; storing information pertaining to a previously transmitted transport block in a temporary buffer, the previously transmitted transport block including the selected process identifier; and transmitting the received data in a second transport block including the selected process identifier.

Enhanced HARQ algorithm for large round trip delay links

A lightweight communication protocol reduces overhead for small data transmissions from a wireless device to a base station over an uplink channel. The wireless device is preconfigured with a device identifier that is known to the base station. The preconfigured device identifier is associated with a static tunnel between the base station and a serving gateway. The wireless device transmits application data to the base station in a medium access control packet without using higher layer protocols. When the base station receives the medium access control packet, it maps the application data to the tunnel associated with the preconfigured device identifier.

Communication protocol for short data transmissions

A method for link adaptation is provided. Data associated with a user device is stored. A first number of scheduling blocks, SBs, required to transmit the stored data is estimated based at least in part on a first modulation and coding scheme (MCS). The first MCS corresponds to a first channel performance level. A second MCS is determined based at least in part on a link quality. The second MCS corresponds to a second channel performance level. A determination is made whether second channel performance level is less than the first channel performance level. An operating MCS is selected based at least in part on whether second channel performance level is less than the first channel performance level. The data is scheduled for transmission based at least in part on the selected operating MCS.
