A remotely-controlled, movable, magnetic system and method for surveillance and attack prevention. The system includes a motive apparatus including a mounting body for mounting a series of magnets and wheels or rollers and suspending the apparatus from a magnetic ceiling T-bar grid or alternative metal track. The wheels or rollers make contact with the T-bars or track; provide some space between the magnets and T-bars or track; and allow for movement of the system along the T-bar grid or track. One or more of the wheels is drivingly connected to a drive motor. The system further includes a processor, an input/output interface, and a remote computing device or remote control for controlling the motive apparatus via a communications network. The motive apparatus further mounts components and tools remotely controlled by a user for observing, identifying a potential attacker, and hindering a potential attack.

Remotely-controlled magnetic surveillance and attack prevention system and method

A method, system, and medium are provided for pooling network devices and updating service plans in a wireless network. The system includes at least one base station and network devices that are part of a wireless network. The base station is configured to group network devices based on a location identifier of each network device. The base station may pool network resources of network devices in each group. The base station, in turn, updates the service plans for customers having addresses that correspond to the location identifiers to reflect the grouped network devices and the pooled resources.

Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods for providing wireless device activity information to a third party based on acceptance of an offer presented to a user. In a particular embodiment, a method provides detecting an occurrence of one of a plurality of trigger conditions, wherein each of the trigger conditions corresponds to at least one activity performed by a wireless communication device. In response to detecting the occurrence, the method provides presenting a user of the wireless communication device with an offer to provide device activity information for the wireless communication device to a third party. The method further provides receiving a response to the offer from the user, wherein the response comprises an indication of whether the user desires to accept the offer.

Disclosed herein is a method and mobile station that improves upon a mobile station's ability to determine its location. By a mobile station considering its extent of turning and/or its travel speed, the mobile station may set an operational mode such that the mobile station uses an appropriate location determining mechanism. In the event that the mobile station is turning at a fast rate and/or traveling at a slow speed, a reasonable conclusion is that the mobile station is in a congested environment, and therefore a first operational mode may be set. In the event that the mobile station is turning at a slow rate and/or traveling at fast speed, a reasonable conclusion is that the mobile station is in an open environment, and therefore a second operational mode may be set.

A method, system, and medium are provided for connecting wireless devices to a wireless network. The system includes at least one base station and wireless devices that are part of a wireless network. The base station is configured with a database that stores metrics for each wireless device. The base station may identify one or more wireless devices that are suitable to communicate data for each of wireless devices based on the stored metrics. The identified suitable wireless devices proxy communications for other wireless devices over the wireless network. The wireless devices are part of a package delivery truck.

A method, system, and medium are provided for sharing content among network devices. The system includes at least one base station and network devices that are part of a wireless network. The base station is configured to receive a request for content from a network device. The content may be available on a second network device proximate to the first network device. The base station may generate temporary and permanent keys that allow network devices to access content available on other network devices. The base station, among other functions, may transmit keys, determine proximity settings and facilitate content transfers.

Methods, media, and servers are provided for maintaining persistent sessions for a network device and providing quick authorization to a user of the network device. The network server maintains persistent sessions with network devices based on a usage profile associated with the network devices. The persistent sessions are maintained during time periods when the network device experience peak transaction activity. Additionally, during these time periods, the network device may provide quick authorizations to users of the network device. Quick authorizations allow a transaction to complete on the network device without waiting for authorization if the user is identified as a returning user.

A method, system, and medium are provided for connecting Machine-to-Machine (M2M) components of trucks. The system includes at least one base station, a central computer, and trucks that are part of a wireless network. Each M2M component calculates metrics. The metrics are transmitted to a central computer that identifies M2M components that are suitable for communicating to a base station over the wireless network. The identified M2M components that are suitable are configured to send package delivery information stored by the M2M component on each truck over a wireless network to the central computer.

Systems, methods, and software for operating environmental sensor systems are provided herein. In one example, a method is provided that includes monitoring environmental conditions to detect a trigger condition and transferring an access request for delivery to a data system responsive to the trigger condition. The method also includes receiving a security challenge transferred by the data system, and in response, transferring a security answer for delivery to the data system that includes a hash result generated using one of the security keys, and receiving a security grant transferred by the data system indicating one of the hash results. The method also includes selecting an environmental sensor function based on an association with one of the security keys used to generate the hash result indicated in the security grant, performing the environmental sensor function to obtain sensor data, and transferring the sensor data for delivery to the data system.

Authenticating environmental sensor systems based on security keys in communication systems

Systems, methods, and software for operating communication systems and wireless communication devices are provided herein. In one example, a method is provided that includes transferring an access request for delivery to a remote data system, receiving a security challenge transferred by the remote data system, and in response, transferring a security answer for delivery to the remote data system that includes at least one hash result generated in the security portion using at least one of the security keys. The method also includes receiving a security grant transferred by the remote data system indicating one of the hash results, selecting at least one of the transceivers based on an association of the transceivers with one of the security keys used to generate the hash result indicated in the security grant, and transferring the data for delivery to the remote data system over a wireless network associated with the selected transceiver.

Mesh wireless connectivity

A method, system, and medium are provided for sharing content among network devices. The system includes at least one base station and network devices that are part of a wireless network. The base station is configured to receive a request for content from a network device. The content may be available on a second network device proximate to the first network device. The base station may generate a temporary key that allows the first network device to access the content available on the second network device while proximity between the first network device and the second network device is maintained. The base station, in turn, transmits the temporary key to the first network device.
