A modular air intake duct system for a vehicle including at least on intake duct and an attachment for attaching the intake duct to at least one structural member of the vehicle. The at least one intake duct is adapted to be demountably attached to a load bearing structural member of the vehicle where at least one intake duct itself is adapted to bear substantially no load. The intake duct is modular and has at least one module.

Modular air intake duct for aircraft

The invention provides an aircraft incorporating a gas turbine engine powerplant wherein at least part of the powerplant forms a part of, or is integrated into, the airframe (i.e. the load-bearing structure of the aircraft) such that the powerplant is subjected to airframe loads (i.e. the main static or aerodynamic loads to which the aircraft is subjected, for example loadings due to the wings, the fin, etc.). A gas turbine powerplant comprising a carcass and a low pressure stage which are designed to be subjected to airframe loads is also discussed.

Manufacture of aircraft

A reclining ejection seat (1) for an aircraft which includes an arm support (7) composed of two parts (8,10) which are moveable fore and aft. A first part (8) carries flying controls (9) and is adjustable for reach. A second part (10) which is adjustable for comfort, locates the elbow of a pilot (11) and supports his forearm. The arm support (7) permits the pilot (11) to maintain adequate control over his arm movements even when the aircraft is carrying out very high speed maneuvers.

Ejection seats for military aircraft

An ejection seat (1), supported on ejection gun guide rails (2) and moveable between an upright position to a reclining position thus affords the pilot greater protection from the effects of high 'g' forces. Movement of the seat (1) is effected by hydraulic acutators (3), (4), guided by an arcuate track (15). The invention has the further advantage of allowing ejection from an upright or a reclining position or any intermediate transitional position.

A Store Carrier 5 for the external carriage of stores adjacent an aircraft body comprises an aircraft body engaging region 11, a store accepting region 12, and a fairing region 14/17 connecting an edge of the aircraft body engaging region with an edge of the store accepting region. The Store Carrier houses store ejection means having a store engaging portion 20 and an elongate portion 21, the elongate portion lying between the fairing region and the aircraft body engaging region. One of the uses of the Store Carrier is to carry a finned missile 1 closely adjacent an aircraft body.
