A system and method for generating a weld are provided. The system receives a selection of a magnitude of a voltage. The system selects a first weld control algorithm when the magnitude of the voltage is in a first range of values. The system may also select a second weld control algorithm when the magnitude of the voltage is in a second range of values. The system may generate welding output power based on the first and second weld control algorithms.

Method for selection of weld control algorithms

Systems and methods for providing an improved start in a welding process are provided. The system may include a power circuit and a control circuit. The power circuit can generate a welding output power. The control circuit may be in communication with the power circuit to control, during the start of the welding process, at least one welding parameter until the control circuit determines that welding energy output exceeds an energy output threshold.

Initiation of welding arc by restricting output

Systems and methods for providing an improved start in a welding are provided. The system may include a power circuit and a control circuit: The power circuit may generate welding output power for a welding process. The control circuit may control the start of the welding process, for example, by generating a current pulse.

Method to improve process stabilization

A system and method is provided for calculating a power output and coordinating the reduction of voltage and wire speed. Specifically, provided is a power circuit for generating welding output power, and a control circuit in communication with the power circuit to modify voltage and wire feed speed based on the calculated welding output power.

Modification of control parameters based on output power

A system and a method are provided for improved run-in control during a start of a welding process. A power circuit generates welding output power. A control circuit in communication with the power circuit controls the output power. The control circuit receives a selection of a wire feed speed setting representing a wire feed speed. The control circuit receives a selection of a run-in setting representing a run-in percentage of the wire feed speed. The control circuit determines an effective run-in percentage that is equal to the run-in percentage plus an extra percentage.

Wire feed motor speed control

A plasma arc torch and method for cutting a workpiece in which the torch has a primary gas flow path for receiving a primary working gas and directing it through the torch to a central exit opening of the torch for exhaustion from the torch onto the workpiece in the form of an ionized plasma. A secondary gas flow path in the torch receives a secondary gas separate from the primary working gas and directs it through the torch. The primary gas flow path is in fluid communication with the secondary gas flow path substantially upstream of the central exit opening of the torch to bleed primary working gas in the primary gas flow path into the secondary gas flow path for admixture therewith to form a secondary gas mixture to be exhausted from the torch.
