The invention relates to a computer system and method for high availability processing through a session on a transport connection, for use in a cluster with at least two nodes. The system comprises a protocol component; a cluster with at least two nodes, said cluster being arranged for running the protocol component; and a server arranged for maintaining a protocol session on a transport connection with a node of the cluster. The cluster is arranged for maintaining on each of said at least two nodes one instance of the protocol component, so that at least two instances are active; the server is arranged for simultaneously maintaining a protocol session with each instance.

System and method for an improved high availability component implementation

The present invention relates to home devices such as set-top boxes, and more particularly to methods providing autonomous file transfers to and from such home devices. There is provided a method for spreading notifications pertaining to the completion of file transfers in time. The method is based on the concept of imposing different delay times on different devices, which delay times must be observed prior to notifying the server of a file transfer completion.

A data communication system is disclosed, comprising a network provided with a control server for managing network resources, and a delivery server for delivering multimedia content to one or more UE (user equipment) devices, wherein the control server is arranged to pass a network session ID, of a network session between the delivery server and the UE device, to the delivery server, and the delivery server is arranged to keep track of the network session independently of the control server, such that once the network session ID of the network session has been passed to the delivery server, the control server keeps no reference to the network session and takes no part therein.
