Techniques for cable management are disclosed. In some embodiments, an apparatus for managing cables comprises a base for securing the apparatus to another object and a finger for supporting a plurality of cables. The finger and the base are coupled through an interlocking mechanism providing a fixed arrangement and a pivoting arrangement such that pivoting is prevented between the finger and the base in the fixed arrangement and enabled between the finger and the base in the pivoting arrangement. The pivoting arrangement allows for support to be maintained for the plurality of cables while the finger is pivoted in relation to the base. The apparatus may further comprise a detent that provides resistance to prevent unintentional transitions between the fixed arrangement and the pivoting arrangement.

Hinged cable management system

A cable manager or serpentine comb assembly that can be provided as part of or as an add-on accessory to an electronics cabinet or enclosure (such as in a server rack or the like) to provide improved cable management. The cable manager uses a series of spaced-apart curved features or walls ('comb teeth') to retain cables axially and laterally. The movement restriction provided by the cable manager is a product of the mechanical interaction of a cable, positioned in a channel or void between an adjacent pair of these curved walls/comb teeth, with the curved surfaces on the cable manager. The channels can be sized with varying widths and engagement curvatures to account for flexibility and minimum bend requirements of the cables being retained and managed by the cable manager or based on its intended use.

Serpentine comb assembly for cable management and retention via curve engagement

A flexible/foldable fastener carrier, comprising one or more captive fasteners inserted at predetermined positions on the carrier. The positions correspond to fastening points on a separate article being secured by the fastener, permitting the each fastener to align with the fastening point on the article when the carrier is placed on or around the article. Because the fasteners remain captive in the fastener carrier, they cannot be lost or inadvertently dropped into the device to which the article is being secured. After the article has been secured, the fastener carrier is retained in place for use if the article is removed or replaced, or the carrier is removed from the article without disturbing either the secure article or the fasteners.
