The disclosure relates to a flameless venting system, along with associated devices and methods. In one aspect, the disclosure is directed to a flameless venting system having a curved flange, which may allow the system to mount directly to the curved surface of a vessel. In another aspect, a disclosed flameless venting system has a curved filter exit. In still another aspect, a disclosed flameless venting system may be configured such that a flame-arresting quenching body component may be joined to a vessel prior to installation of an explosion panel component. In addition, a quenching body component may be configured to provide access to its interior, to facilitate inspection, replacement, or maintenance of an explosion panel contained therein.

Flameless venting system

The disclosure relates to an explosion suppression system and associated methods, which may include a cannon comprising a barrel and a propellant tank, a suppressant cartridge configured to be inserted into the barrel, and a triggering mechanism positioned between the barrel and propellant tank. The suppressant cartridge may be configured to operatively engage with a propellant source. One or more explosion sensors, which may be of different types, may be included in a system, and an explosion suppression device may be configured to activate when one or more of the sensors indicate an explosion. The disclosure further relates to a lock-out mechanism for an explosion suppression system, with the lock-out mechanism including a mechanical and/or electrical component. In one embodiment, an actuator may be positioned between a suppressant agent volume and a propellant agent volume of an explosion suppression system.

Suppression and isolation system

A vacuum resistant pressure relief device is () disclosed. In one embodiment, a pressure relief device may be an explosion vent. The explosion vent may be provided with one or more ribbed features, which may be radial ribbed features ().

Pressure relief device

An explosion isolation device is disclosed. The explosion isolation device may comprise a conduit having a flap configured to rotate between an open position and a closed position within the conduit, and a holding mechanism configured to hold the flap in the open position. The holding mechanism may be configured to release the flap in the event of an explosion and the flap may be configured to rotate into the closed position after it is released. The device may include a sensor and an actuator configured to actuate the holding mechanism when an explosion is sensed. The conduit may be vertical.

This disclosure relates to a rupture disk (), which may include a flange portion (), a reverse-buckling dome portion (), and a transition portion () joining the flange portion to the reverse-buckling dome portion. The dome portion may define an apex. The dome portion may further define an indentation () at the apex and/or a line of weakness (), which may be proximate to the transition portion and/or may include a relatively weak segment configured to initiate rupture. An integral stress concentrating feature may be provided. A line of weakness and/or a base of a domed portion may be non-circular. The disclosure also relates to a rupture disk crimped into a holder (). The disclosure also relates to a container having a wall that defines a rupturable portion.

A pressure relief device, comprising: a valve body () having a central bore, wherein a valve seat () is disposed within the central bore of the valve body (); a plug (); a spring () configured to press the plug () into sealing engagement with the valve seat (); a bumper () extending from the plug (), wherein the bumper () extends along a central axis of the spring (); and a holder () configured to lock into the valve body (), wherein the holder () is configured to hold the spring () within the valve body ().

In-line pressure relief valve and rupture disk

A safety head is disclosed. More particularly, a safety head comprising a circular flange portion and at least one protrusion is disclosed, wherein the at least one protrusion has a face exhibiting a blended radius of curvature. The circular flange portion may be thicker than the at least one protrusion. A safety head assembly is also disclosed, wherein the safety head assembly comprises an inlet safety head and an outlet safety head. Additionally, a safety head assembly is disclosed wherein the inlet safety head comprises a peripheral protrusion, the outlet safety head comprises a peripheral protrusion, and a clamp ring is configured to engage with the peripheral protrusions.

A buckling pin valve and associated methods are disclosed. More specifically, a buckling pin valve is disclosed with a valve body having an inlet and an outlet, a valve seat at the valve body inlet, a valve plug configured to sealingly engage with the valve seat, a pin cage attached to the valve body and configured to mount a buckling pin, and a shaft configured to transfer forces from the valve plug to the buckling pin. A buckling pin valve also is disclosed with a pin cage being made of a rigid all-in-one construction. A method of manufacturing a pin cage for a buckling pin actuated valve is disclosed, wherein the method comprises fabricating a pin cage from a single piece of metal. A method of manufacturing a buckling pin actuated valve also is disclosed.

A rupture disk () having a line of weakness () is disclosed. In one embodiment, a frustum-shaped rupture disk has a shear-scored line of weakness located in one or more of a central truncated portion (), an angled frustum portion (), a flange portion (), and in the areas of transition between a flange portion and an angled frustum portion, and between an angled frustum portion and a central truncated portion. In another embodiment, a frustum-shaped rupture disk has an angled frustum portion, with a line of weakness in the angled frustum portion. A stiffening member may be provided to stiffen a central truncated portion of a frustum-shaped rupture disk.

A pressure relief device is disclosed. The pressure relief device may take the form of a 'butterfly' vent, including paired burst panels or blow-out portions that are configured to open in a manner similar to a butterfly flapping its wings. Upon opening, the paired burst panels may contact each other, thereby absorbing kinetic energy. The burst panels may be positioned within a frame or may be formed or cut from a single sheet. A cord may be provided between the burst panels to retain the burst panels and/or ensure that the burst panels open substantially simultaneously. The pressure relief device also may include an activation mechanism to control the opening of the burst panels, one or more hinge members, and/or a braking member.

Butterfly vent

A flame mitigation device (), along with associated systems and methods, is disclosed. More particularly, a flame mitigation device () has at least one sensor () configured to sense a flame (), and at least one suppression agent () release device configured to release a flame suppression agent into the projected flame path when the flame is sensed. The sensor () may sense the flame either directly or indirectly. A flame mitigation system () is also disclosed, wherein the system includes an enclosure () and at least one pressure release device configured to release a flame from the enclosure. The system () may include at least one sensor () configured to sense the flame (), and a device configured to release a suppression agent (). A method of mitigating a flame in a combustible material system is also disclosed.

Flame mitigation device and system

A system and associated methods of quality control for a pressure relief device are disclosed. More specifically, a system and method including one or more of non-destructive dimensional or visual verification, unique identification (e.g., serialization), and image capture of a pressure relief device or a constituent component of such a device are disclosed. A system and method are disclosed in which a checked physical attribute of a pressure relief device, or component thereof, is compared against a statistically expected attribute to determine whether the device or component is suitable for further manufacture or delivery to a customer.

Quality control for a pressure relief device

The present invention is directed to pressure relief devices and to corresponding pressure relief assemblies that have improved vacuum resistance, improved fragmentation resistance, and/or improved burst control while maintaining low mass. The pressure relief device includes a substantially flat flange section and a domed section. The domed section may include a transitional line that defines a change in the shape of the domed section. The pressure relief device may also include a bracket for securing or aligning a domed section to a flange section. The pressure relief device may further include a stress distribution feature that is disposed transversely to a line of weakness in the domed section. The pressure relief assembly may include a fastener having a wire that is configured to break and release the pressure relief device when subject to a predetermined tensile load.
